Hi everyone ... I'm moving to Edgewood (small town east of Dallas) in June after getting married. Hoping to "meet" others close by to learn the ins/outs of raising chickens. I've read so much already and feel like I have a good start in my mind at least. My soon-to-be hubby has had chickens before so he thinks I'm a little crazy at times. LOL I'm sure I'll have questions in the future and can tell this is a good place to be to learn and get answers!

June will be here before you know it We are all crazy at times, lol but I think it would be hilarious if you registered at Tractor Supply or with one of the hatcheries, lol

Wendy, I'd take that hail anytime over the last ones we got. They were an inch tall and 1 inch thick. Did quite a bit of damage. Luckily with snakes we just have black rough earth snakes. HOWEVER we had 1 rattler once and it killed one of my ducks. She was a very protective broody.

Wow, look at all the new people! Welcome! Been pretty busy and haven't been posting much but I still read through the tread. Everyone needs to watch out for that chicken and duck math, lol! It sneaks up on you really quickly.

Oh man yes! I wanted 3 muscovies. I now have 12, we wanted 5 chickens, we now have over 20.. haha. Everyone kept telling me their nasty ect. Yeah their poop is nasty, but LOVE THEM

Glad to hear about Ortho Snake be gone. Going to try it. We have a cabin outside of Leakey. 4 scorpions inside on sticky pads. I used sticky mouse traps flat and slide them under the beds and couches. Neighbor killed a rattlesnake. Waiting with bated breath for my Easter eggers to show up in April. Hubby ordered me started pullets from McMurrays. Nice to see all the Texans on here.My sultan, who I thought was not supposed to lay much...has laid 4 eggs in two weeks. Lol
