Texas

Howdy! Thinking of switching from Purina Flock Raiser to Bryant feeds. They have a grower/layer with low calcium and 22% protein. I would lower the protein by throwing down 9% protein scratch. This company is local and distributes mainly in Texas. I already supplement the low calcium Purina with oyster shell, so I'm set there.

Anyone use this brand?

If these are for mature laying hens, then it sounds like a good mix.

Hello! I love your member name. Wish I had been as clever. My last name is Ham. I'm new to the forum but not to raising chickens. I've had chickens off & on all my life. However, after finding this site, meeting some of the members & seeing their set ups, I'm thinking I need more chickens! I've always wanted to try hatching eggs & there's so much information & help here. We'll see...
Make sure to share pics of your flock & coop.

I use a Brinsea adjustable hatcher with a humidity pump. It increases the hatch rate without a lot of effort. I can populate it with approximately 24 hatching eggs at a time.

Thanks Rooster! I was just surfing the web this morning looking at incubators. Can you hatch duck eggs in it? We have 4 stock ponds & well, you see where this maybe going.

In the adjustable version, you can go from quail to duck in size. You get a smaller yield with larger eggs.

I only recently learned how difficult it can be to hatch out ducklings (watching the "I don't know what I'm doing" thread with Steven. I'm just thinking whatever I buy, I'd like it to be universal in case I decide to try ducklings in the future. Thanks for the advise. It can be overwhelming when looking at all the choices.

Hey! I think your name is clever and funny. I am partial to Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers - you know I love those green eggs HamIam!:D
I recently got some runner ducks and a chart I saw said 30% chance of green eggs.
We'll see. Welcome to the thread and BYC!

Ahh Thanks Leave a LightOn. I might just have to get a green egg laying hen or two! Never thought of it before now. My husband is a Retired Marine & my son & I would often come up with cute sayings to put in the return address when he was deployed. Like, Hamfront, Hamitup, Honey Hams, etc.
