Texas

Sounds good ChickletteSarge. The sultan hatched one chick and another is peeping. I took a pic with my iPad but can't figure out the url of it to post. She is such a good mama.

I think I will have to sync the iPad with the computer and upload them that way. This iPad browser, safari, is not compatible with this forum so it isn't giving me the options like normal. I will do it in a ill bit. Letting the injured young leghorn roam in the pigs pen right now.

Oh.... they are barrd rocks.... I may have clickd the wrong breed.... but they are fun to have! They are the soungest of our flock and my wifes neked neck pullet took them as her own! She is about 3 weeks older than they are! Already broody mamma!

Ok so I have a q for my Texas BYCers....
I was at the VA last week and I remember readin a Texas Monthly mag and there was an article about a gentleman out in Gatesville that raised rare game birds from all over.... does anyone know who he is and if he sells hatching eggs or chicks of his stock? I read that he gets invited all over the world for his game stock! I would love a small flock like that!

Can't help you with that ChickletteSarge. Here are the pics of the baby chicks. She had 8 total even though some are hiding under her. 4 didn't hatch and weren't any good. She is a very good mama.

By the way, does anyone know what kind of chicken this is? This is one of the two identical ones that are my neighbors. I called them leghorns but don't think they are really those. They are white but I noticed some dark grey feathers on her back. She might be a mix, too. Her legs are dark grey and eyes are red. I think the rooster is a welsummer. He looks similar to the pics of those. I will post a pic of him tomorrow. I think almost all the chicks are welsummer/sultan mix because most have the 5 toes like mama. So, I guess she was only sitting on her eggs. I will check each chick tomorrow to see.

I saw that Texas Monthly online had an article about him but I did not see any contact info, said his name is Bobby Jones and he started Bobby Jones Hatchery...

Thanks for that info! I googled it and found some possibly old contact info! Took some time but hopfully it pays off!
Like I said before, id love to get a better insight on the game breeds! And what better way to do it than pickin the brains of a man that has been doing it for over half a century!
