Texas

@JanR1 Here is our state thread!

Welcome.
We already won, I have 22million eggs. I drove off 60 last night that were getting old.

LATE EDIT-ok?? I don't know how that got posted. I was going to type some dribble about my cracking open a bottle of mexicoke and explosively cleaning my sinuses this morning. I did deliver 60 eggs to a friend though. So sounds like I made an intoxicated post. I think this new computer might be listening to me and posting things.

Ok my wife is away at the vets office and I unboxed my budget PC. Our newest cat got gang banged by 3 of our dogs last night. Plus our newest Mallanoise needs his privates removed. I guess I should have updated mine since 2014 but didn't. The thing updated in well under 30 minutes, my malwarebytes completed its scan in under in under 1 minute. Oh she is going to love how this thing doesn't act like a dog on facebook. We grabbed one of those Intel NUC systems as I am still cheap. Also I have an aversion to google chromebooks.
So the cat is no longer with us. We planted her last night. Her injuries were too extensive to repair.

My name is Jan Rubenkoenig and I have been a member of BYC for about 2 years. My membership is with Wisconsin and I would like to join the Texas group. No I haven't moved, I guess Wisconsin must have been what popped up when I was doing a search. I live in Granbury, Texas which is in Hood County. We have 11 mini/dwarf goats 2 rotten dogs and 22 free range hens. We are both retired but my husband can't give it up so he drives a school bus. When I retired I gave it all up, early mornings in particular. My husband is the early riser so he starts the coffee and makes sure everything is okay.

14 of our chickens have just been added and not being familar with all the breed I don't know what they are. I plan on taking some pictures to upload and see if I can find out. They are separated right now because we are pretty sure the new chickens have worms and although our originals may have them it may be a different type.

It is still hard to process the loss of this cat for me. Sure she was a chick pest but harmless. She was taking rats as well. I am trying not to harm our dogs who were involved they know who they were and know they are in trouble. So I guess I am in the anger stage of DABDA or grieving.

I hope to not hear anyone here has lost their job and has to deal with the annoyance of the Texas Workforce Commission. Still our members know how to put meat on the table.

Welcome to the Texas thread at @JanR1 !

New chickens could someone tell me what breed they are? :idunno
We added 15 new chickens to our small flock but I don't know what they are can someone help? We have a few RIR and a few Ameraucana but I've never seen chickens like these before.

As you can see they vary from almost blonde to dark red with white markings. The white feathers are random not any organized design. And don't believe it that blondes are dumb. The blond chicken was the first one to manage to escape and join our other flock. Then figured out how to get back with her own flock. The other closeup shows one of the chickens with a comb folded over. They are already laying although the shells are pretty thin.

I'll be waiting for ya'll to tell us what we bought.

I'll hazard a guess that they are some production bird. High egg laying and short lived due to reproductive disorders. Golden comet, production red, Red star or some hybrid of that ilk.

To answer your question directly, not a breed but an on-purpose hybrid for egg laying.

They do look lovely and should give you lots of eggs. Brown egg layers or white?

Medium brown. I was thinking we may have a cross between breeds because I haven't been able to find any that really look like these. They are grown maybe still young but they aren't large chickens. They pretty much stay together and are not aggressive. Still skittish from the move but I'm pretty sure it's for the best from what my daughter said about where they were kept.

Hiya, I'm relatively new to Texas but I've had my boy Aiolos for about a year. I'm actually in Mesquite near Dallas. Any one interested in being friends please drop me a message because I don't know many people in the area! I'd love to purchase some hens but I don't know who to contact or how to get my hands on them! I keep trying TSC and they're always out by the time I have a day off of work. :( It's very disheartening.
