Texas

This our lazy local South Texas orb weaver variety that doesn't do yellowjackets(probably a union contract or general manana thing). The Golden Orb Weavers across most of North and Central Texas will. If you wanted to move an egg sac I would use scotch tape and put it on a window under an overhang so it never gets soaked in the rain or just leave em in situ. When those egg sacks open up there are usually 200+ little nippers all over the place. Wife says her research says up to 3000 or more eggs per sack:

Credit to DW for this years photos. We always leave that kitchen sink light on so attracted her there most likely.

So think they are going to run out of names? It looks like 48 hours or less until Iota gets named. These are the last of the list. Models show some limited potential it can cross into the Gulf. For now it is 98L:
  • Iota (unused)
  • Kappa (unused)
  • Lambda (unused)
  • Mu (unused)
Even *IF* they run thru the rest of the greek alphabet they do have "next year's list" that they can start in on.

/Snarky addendum #2 for this month:
I have a feeling we will see at least 1 numbered storm after the official end of the season.

So just to recap on my 14 year old cat exploits this week. I found a medium possum and medium bunny corpse that needed tossed over the back fencing to keep the dogs and chicken from eating them. I guess he is hunting again to keep warm as our over night temps are hovering at/near/below 70F right now. Regardless, I rate the silkie suprise July 25th chicklets as big enough to get reintegrated by force nightly into the main silkie pen from the jumbo dog size shipping crate. Humidity is still 90+% nightly. Still nice to have the windows open and hear the crickets and roosters(all is well calls) vs an AC compressor cycling.

Late edit- I just realized I never posted a photo of my dead possum. The flies were already working on it. The bunny wasn't worth a photo plus it was gross having been eviscerated and nothing notable in the size category.

Ok. Time to crow.
This is not my first rodeo.
GONNA BE A GRANDMA (again). My daughter is pregnant.
Number 10 due in early May.
Score:
Girls-7
Boys-2

#10 is a boy. Woo! How!
Name already chosen. He will be called Trey, because he will be 3rd in family with that name( different last name) so can't have 3rd in birth cert.
: JOHN WAYNE

Ok I drank too much last night, but responded to the alarm clock to let the chicken be free. You wouldn't believe the size of a mystery cold clump of regurgitated dog mess I just stepped in bare feet in the house. I am going back to bed once my foot dries from showering off this experience. Definitely the downside of owning 5 large housedogs.

At least you have tile. Not pleasant with carpet, either. It lingers way past it's welcome.

That is the issue. Carpet to absorb the muddy tracks after it rains or mop constantly with the heathens wanting to run in and out. Find what works.
