Youtube has some videos of Malinois in action - they are tireless and can drive owner/trainers nuts. Worth checking out, the high fencing they can (halfway climb) and jump off the top are awesome.

I think the Belgian Teruven (can't recall spelling) are more grounded and just beautiful too.

Found this thread by accident, I believe several months ago. Folks mentioned Opuntia Cactus and it caught my eye. I used to grow them on the south side of my house under the overhang of roof which kept most of the rain off of them. Should mention I'm about 20 miles or so SW of Chicago. Get some brutal winters, savage wind chills. I'll see if I can get my son to put up some of the photos. We set a state record of -32F I think 1980. Thanked the Lord that the furnace kept on working. :fl. I hate the scary winds, they call Chicago "The Windy City," but other states said they have even higher MPH- I believe them.

Your "preachin' to the choir" here... Born & initially raised 2hrs due east of you. Exit 100 off i-94 in "the Mitten". I have known that winters force personally for many years up there..... BTW when's the last time you drove over the quarry? It's been several years since I looked at a satellite view of the Chi-town rock quarry! In '05-08 I could bearly see the bottom when I drove across it in an 18 wheeler.

/End of line.

Ok I just had my beast cat on my lap for the last 10 minutes. He is easily back up to his winter weight of 15 or more pounds and none of it is obesity. I was just thinking back to 2007 when the elder retired military folks next door made us cucumber sammies, this jerk ate them for household goods arrival day. I really would have enjoyed a cucumber sammie that day. It is hard reflecting on all of the horrors this punk has exposed us to over the years. I think the worst were his vivisections on live rodents especially if gravid in our kitchen. I am ok with the dead possums and bunnies. He is so not a small cat photo is from tonight. Sorry I couldn't get my entire cat in focus.

Ummm. Not sure how too respond to that. You cannot live here without transportation. No subways, bigger cities have cabs, local buses but, that's about it. We live 7 miles from town, 4 miles to nearest store. I have been driving since I was 10. We also do not have to rent a parking space for our vehicles. We keep them at our residence.
