Texas

Hey friends,
Anyone wanting to get into isbars? I hatched out 5 first gen greenfire farms in may and I ended up with 3 splash roos and 2beautiful splash blue pullets. I am wanting to sell two of the roos because we r hurting for $$ right now. They are a great prolific laying breed that is extremely rare. PM me if you are interested. I'mnear Dallas.

That's weird. Sometimes I'll get a hang-up coming out of the fill tube but I just have to stick my finger into it and that will release the grit/shell to fall into the trough.  We cut rectangles into the pipe to make an open trough, rather than just putting round holes into the pipe.  We used two 45 degree elbows put together instead of one 90 degree elbow to make a slightly less angled bend going from fill pipe to trough pipe.

Nothing like a little trial and error to try to get things to work.  Have to see how they work in the new breeder houses we're getting ready to start on since we haven't tried feed in them yet.

Honestly, I didn't spend all that much time on it. Messed with on and off for a few days and threw it out.

Chickenfever, I am wanting to get into Isbars, but need to make more space arrangements first. I don't think I want them In with my layers...

Here is another Q. I have a hen that has gone broody, but have no Roo, so no fertilized eggs. Is there anyone is the south SAn Antonio area with fertil eggs who wants them hatched? I don't really have space for more chickens right now, but I do want her to be able to hatch a clutch....

Hey guys from Bastrop here, new to this thread and can't wait to do some chicken talk.

Welcome from Austin! What do you have?

Well our 1st incubator experiment didn't turn out too well. :( We only did it because a friend gave us the bator & wanted us to do it for half the chicks (he bought eggs). We started with 2 dozen BPR eggs for him & we got 6 Speckled Sussex & 4 Silver Sussex + put in 1 Bantam from our chickens & 1 egg from a red colored regular kind of hen bred to our American Game roo. Anyway we ended up with 8 Barred Rocks, 1 Speckled Sussex, the Game/red hen chick & the Bantam chick. We helped 3 more of the Sussex eggs hatch but they lived 3 days & died (all had problems) :hit Thats it for us, we'll let our American Game hens who are always broody hatch anymore that we might want....
