Texas

Chilly, foggy damp morning. I'm lazy today. Not sure what I'm gonna do today.....I'm so wanting to plant, I really feel winters over.
Patchy fog here, 48°F, calm....2mph wind. We'll have at least one more really cold snap before we can say winter's over! ....but at the same time, I hope you're right!

So I did the math….

This tractor is said to have 15 X the torque of this car : https://www.lamborghini.com/en-en/models/aventador/aventador-lp-780-4-ultimae

15 X 531 ft/lb of torque = 7965 ft/lb of torque

Case in point parallel:
My ‘99 F350 7.3L diesel spec’s factory of
~235HP @2700rpms
~410 lb-ft of torque @2650rpms
With the “tune” it’s able to be safely set at any of these settings:
~275HP & ~510 TQ
~305HP & ~550 TQ
~335HP & ~610 TQ

But, 7,965 TQ?!!!! That’s just amazing for steam power!

It Chilly gray day. I dumped a trashcan of ash in run yesterday. Ash was put in can last Friday. I didn't rake it out-figured the birds would do it for me. Today, filled the 5 gallon waterer, I noticed the pile of ash was still a pile,🤔 sooo I got the rake to smooth pile out. When I raked into ash-embers flew, the can was not warm/hot when I dumped it yesterday, but it is definitely hot. Now I know why the chickens hadn't scattered it. Soooo I sprayed it down with water.

Live and learn.

My great grandfather used to farm with mules until he got steam tractors! It is surprising how much torque is produced by steam engines.

Crisp clear morning. Its 40⁰. I'm sitting on porch, wrapped in a blanket drinking coffee. It's strange, summertime-its quiet.
When it's coldish it's not. I am 1 1/2 miles from hwy, this morning I can hear every vehicle on hwy. Lack of leaves, cold air-i wonder why?
It's not peaceful when it's noisy.
The same here. I don't know if it's because of the bare trees/ lack of insulation or just my perception. In the winter I can occasionally glimpse trucks along the highway. When the trees are full, I don't see them so "out of sight, out of mind" thing going on?
Here's an article on sound differences in cold weather
