Texas

The same here. I don't know if it's because of the bare trees/ lack of insulation or just my perception. In the winter I can occasionally glimpse trucks along the highway. When the trees are full, I don't see them so "out of sight, out of mind" thing going on?
Here's an article on sound differences in cold weather
https://www.discovery.com/science/Sound-Carries-Farther-Cold-Days#:~:text=Because sound moves faster in,travel farther in chilly weather.
Thank you! I don't think it's perception. I cannot see hwy or train track. In summer, I actually forget about train track. It's between house and hwy. In winter I hear hwy traffic, train and whistle occasionally (like this morning).

Someone please erase my thoughts and stop me from going down this rabbit hole.
Here's my early Sunday morning thought.
I have an area next to my run, that would be perfect to expand. It's already fenced on 2 sides , has posts for 3rd side and the frame up for 4th side, with a spot for a door. I would need fencing, and may know someone with scrap/ excess chainlink. Tell me no! I'm crazy! Don't go there.

You are in the wrong forum if you think we won't tell you to expand and get more chickens.

Besides, Grandbaby needs more balls. :lau

The bananas off the trees are ripening. Banana bread in the oven and it smells wonderful.

Roll
Ok.
Is it doable?
I do have a couple unused cattle panels I can use for fencing.
Also, it has been turning in my brain. I "could" use the back wall of existing run, cut one end of it, and move it to front of area, use cattle panels and welded wire on remaining un fenced area .
Thoughts? Suggestions? Negatives?

Looks like someone started to do this. You have to finish it. For the love of chickens if nothing else!

Remove one existing wall gives you 2 remaining walls to finish. Will you roof the new part? I wouldn't.
Thoughts? - do it. Do the 2 walls that need materials first before tearing down an existing wall.
Suggestions? scrounge to see if you can get the rest of the walls.
Negatives? cost and time. Do you need to start another project right now? Spring time.

Final count on hatch 9 chicks. 1 black, 1 red, one almost chipmunk and 6 yellow. Happy New Year!

Nice hatch! Now, you need more space. Enlarge your run.
I put a cattle panels up, not tied or anything, I have about 5 ft of open space.
There are cattle panels I can use in the existing (to be moved) fence.
And 1 problem area. Then area would be enclosed...
Problem area
Then cattle panel,, it ends slightly past t-post.

Oh yes! Must have more chickens! I mean, what else are you going to do with that space, it looks perfect for chickens.

Not chicken related.....
I couldn't get comfortable in bed last night.
Bubba the cat trying to sleep, I kept tossing turning. I got up probably 6-8 times, milk, bathroom, adjust thermostat, another blanket....everything. everytime, Bubba lifts his head and watch me, finally, he let out a big sigh, got up came next to me, curled up and started licking my arm. He lick then look at my face, then gently lick again 😋. I went to sleep with Bubba watching over.
