Have any of y'all done a dry hatch? If so, what humidity range is ideal? Do you recommend this method or not? Any info is appreciated
It's the only way I run my incubator. I have excellent hatch rates.

We got about 20-30 minutes of hard rain today. It was completely unexpected. The forecast said 10%. I was shocked. I heard the metallic 'plinking' on the chimney, but I thought it was my special needs hen blindly pecking at the wire on her cage.

I went outside to find the shaded swing blowing over, it took out a decorative windmill. I kinda freaked. I have 14 3 month old chicks and this was their first storm. They were all drenched, huddling under the eaves of the coop next to the garden.

I got soaked to the bone chasing them to safer places. The instant I had them safe, it stopped. 😐

What kind of humidity do you aim for? I've been running my NR360 completely dry for 2 days (no eggs in it yet) and it's ranging from 19-27%
25% is my favorite 25-30%

I have to say that this works/worked PERFECTLY for me in my still air incubator.
I just recently got a forced air bator. I am still learning it and I think I am going to be keeping the humidity a bit higher in in compared to my still air days.
By higher I think 40% might be better.

Just venting...since August 8th our water co-op has us on a NO WATERING restriction except for livestock. I called to ask if we could keep using soaker houses on the house foundation...NO. Penalties will be enforced. Read an article yesterday that said where my co-op gets its water, 40 million gallons are pumped into another county's lake daily and they don't have the same restrictions. The article also said to those in other areas to not worry about your plants, just keep your foundation wet. My house is sinking- literally. Thanks for letting me vent. 😊

I think I'm just going to stick with a traditional hatch, with as low as the humidity has been outside there is no way I can get it up that high without water.
