Hi,
I just found the forum last night and have spent hours on it since then!! Thankfully my husband's deer hunting this weekend!
I've only had chickens since March (easter present for my granddaughter), started with 2 leghorn chicks and a RIR. I've recently lost both the leghorns, one unexpectantly and one to a neighbor's dog. I still have the RIR rooster (Max) and added 4 araucanas about a month ago. I missed my layers so I bought a cinnamon queen and a giant cochin yesterday at First Monday in Canton. Can't say I recommend it but I didn't know where else to get layers this time of year. Anyway have already gotten one egg.
I guess my question is whether or not to worm them before I put them together with the other chickens. I've never worm the other ones either and wonder if I should do all of them. I planned on keeping the two new ones separated for about 2 weeks. Is that enough time to tell if they're going to get sick? Also thought about vitamins since I'm not sure what conditions they were kept in. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Cheryl from Terrell
