I would just go to Cameron and pick up chicks from ideal poultry if I were in the market for more chicks. I have so many broodies that I "find" chicks around here pretty often.
I wouldn't suggest mail order chicks for anyone considering how slow our mail service is.

It's about a 45 min drive for me, but I don't do it any other way now... And once you're on the email list, they send you the 'deals'. Which of course is how I ended up with 25 Two day old chicks the day before winter hit.
Also, you can save on some of the fees by picking up. and a minimum order... 😁

I made the mistake of getting an incubator and have enough people around that I get free hatching eggs. Barnyard Surprises are the best breed and you never can predict the colors. Such a wide variety.

No, they don't breed true, but boy, do they breed.

I figure chickens are a must around horses since they clean up the spilled feed and keep the flies down. I don't plan on proving this, but it sounds good.

Hey Texas Chicken woman, I am in the big city of Coldspring, on Lake Livingston, and yep that deep east Texas. 60 miles north of the big city of Houston. Just wanted to say Howdy and keep your chicken feed dry.

It's cool this is the first time I've seen anybody that's kind of close to me in Chester. Texas is so big😭

Until I got my own breeding group going, ideal was the only ones that seemed to survive on my farm long term. My farm dogs that's a different story😳😢
