If you are interested in a dog, we are putting a great dane on the college station craigs list today! he is precious and we have been fostering him for the last few months just going by word of mouth in hopes that we could hold on to him but 6 dogs is just too much for me to keep up with. He just hit 1 year, full shots, he is fixed, microchipped, crate trained and house broken and really havent had any issues with him and the other dogs (my pit mix kinda stays at odds with him, more due to jealousy than anything cause he is such a loavable oaf that wants to be right next to me, which is murphy's spot in his eyes, lol)

Anyone else as well, if you are interested please PM me...i love Arnold (the dane, pretty fitting i think) and want him to go somewhere he will be happy. i am will to drive/meet just about anywhere. let me know!
Amg I would love to have a great dane! I would have to talk to DH tho, biiiig food bill there. What color is he? I will also have to talk to DH about the drive. We are like, three hours from there one way.

That's when you point out that there are great places to go to for an overnight date night in College Station. Then go down the night before, have a stay over date night at a hotel and pick the dog up on your way home the next morning....not that I've planned these kind of things out before or anything....

Ok, those are fairly common you should watch Craigslist, they pop up there time to time, you could probably cross one with any Barbado and you should get about 50% paints then just cull and build your herd to what you want if you didn't want to spend a fortune on ewes. Everything all depends on your budget! I just mainly have mine for weed eaters, just remember you don't have to start out with a bunch they breed like rabbits. I cull our herds down every two or three years and it doesn't seem to take long to go from 8 to 30 before to long

Speaking of sheep and goats, anyone know how good Painted Desert sheep are about grazing or browsing? I was wanting a painted desert ram if I could get my hands on one. Wouldn't mind a pair either. I love the horns <3
Painted Desert are the only way to go :) Sheep love weeds actually better then grass we've found. We have babies coming anytime now

We have registered stock & only breed once a year, they can breed twice a year but I believe its too hard on them :old

He is black with a white chest. and like i said...im willing to drive and if necessary he can come with a complimentary 50 lbs.-o-feed. i will post a pic of him this afternoon, but think about it...im off weekend and if i have to bring him to your door, im not opposed...with fair notice.

I love them! What do your lambs go for? Mine won't have that big of a pen that is why I only want two or three. Babies will be sold or slaughtered. Depends on if I get a taste for lamb.

What is the best feed for them btw if I am just going to buy them feed. Alfalfa and a commercial sheep diet?

I really only want them just for pets, so I was looking for bottle lambs, but I can only find older ones right now and they want a lot for them.

Let me talk to DH. He is slightly against me getting a male dog (even though I prefer them) Since he has a male GSD that is unaltered. He doesn't want fighting with our house mate having a female unaltered GSD.

I'm between Killeen and Lampasas... I just bought the 5 dairy goats.. so I might hit you up for some barbados next spring!

One other good thing about them is when the ram gets older and it is time for new blood if he has big wide horns they are worth quite a bit of money, the best I've done so far was 400 for my last old ram and his replacement was only 85 dollars. The new ram is young but just make sure when you buy one they have the genetics for big curls. The one I have right now is 1 1/2 years old and already has a curl and a half. If anybody wants good stock and is close to Seguin just talk to Beno at Seguin Cattle Co. Which is the local auction here and tell him what you want and he will purchase it for you and all you have to do is come and pick them up. It's what i do since I can't get off work to go sit at the auction.

I clean skulls as a hobby.. so saving horns and skulls just comes naturally to me

PD's are a "hair" sheep, they don't taste muttony like woolie's do We butcher 1 or 2 every year, depending on how many get sold. Ours start at $100.00 depending on how colorful they are or aren't :sick PD's are "like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get" Check out our website http://www.arrowjranchpainteddesertsheep.weebly.com :) We feed sheep pellets & bermuda horse hay + grass(when there is any), alfalfa when they're fixing to lamb & after lambing

The food bill increase wasn't all that bad when we got ours a couple of weeks ago. The Dane and English Bulldog usually go through a 35# bag of premium food every two weeks.
