Texas

When did he think he would have the coop ready? You should see if there is someone near you who will go in on an order with you..
Maybe we can work something out shadow. I know we arent exactly close buy i was thinking about getting some silkies, started with 2 but one didnt quite make it the first week so now i have 1 lone silke and my only bantam as well. And if i can, always willing to help.
Spring has sprung! Mustard greens, collard greens and white, yellow and purple onions. 4 rows of corn is sprouting. Tomatoes are blooming. AND the berries are blooming. :weee Can't wait for a big bowl of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream and blackberries. Mmmmmmmm!
Man, seems like just the other day you posted the pic of your freshly tilled garden!

Now that im caught up, lol....first time outside was a complete success! The chicks loved it, we were all outside, and i took pics! Even our mastiff, apollo, came and laid down next to the wire kennel to watch( chicks were leary for a minute but soon realized he wasnt a threat)!!

I will post some later when i get a chance to get them off my camera, 80mm macro lense for those of you that know, so hopefully i got some good ones!

My rosemary died....thankfully, my LFS had some in stock when I stopped by, today - so I get to replace it. Otherwise, my garden is on hold until all my coops and runs are built - pretty much because the runs on either side of the garden actually form the garden. Gates on each end. Have to - the deer won't let anything grow otherwise.

just a warning.. Rosemary LOVES Texas...

here's mine

these pics were last year.. it's grown more since then

yeah :) I had Rosemary and Sage (which also LOVES Texas - esp Texas limestone areas) at my house in S. Austin. They were taller than I am. Love 'em.

I need to get some sage.. do you remember which variety it was?

our African Grey parrot, Maya, was in watching TV and I heard him say this:

"BABY?.. you comin out of there?.. come on baby..." then whistled like he was calling a dog... "aww.. whats the matter baby?.. huh?... come on.. come on... baby.. you comin out of that egg?"

He is such a character and he LOVES to pet the baby chicks... and the baby emus...

Lol.. i admit I talk to the eggs.. especially the emu eggs!

he does feel the need to call all little animals "baby" though.. and if he hears any of them fuss (kitten crying .. puppy whining or a baby bird of any type making a fuss) he starts with the "aww.. what's the matter baby?" routine

I admit we spoil him.. he gets to watch TV (we have the movie channels for him) and he used to have his own pet until she died of old age. .. a rat that he named "Betty Boop"
He also works as our Conure's speech coach.. he has taught Marley (the conure) how to say more things than we have.

That is hilarious. I have always wanted a parrot, but I feel I do not have enough time for one. =]

So neat! I love that hes so aware of the age of the other animals. My girls and I love watching YouTube videos of Greys. Have you heard of Irene Pepperberg? She does research at MIT on African Greys and their capacity for learning is just astounding.
