Yes I have

Maya puts a lot of other greys to shame.. I think it's because he has the animals to talk to plus he learns a ton from TV

he ALWAYS has something to add to a conversation (and he knows exactly what he is saying).. he has made up his own jokes and laughed at them.. and I have caught him comparing words.. he will sit there and say things like "carrot.. parrot.. ferret" and yell at the dogs or cats when they are doing something they shouldn't be doing.
The other day one of the dogs (Chiyo) was at the living room window and barking at the ducks outside.. ,Maya said "Chiyo, that's enough.. shut up an go lay down".. when the dog ignored him he cursed at the dog and added "stupid **** animal"
We never call the dogs "animal".. so that's something he picked up from tv. My husband and myself always refer to the animals as "critters". what I found interesting was that he knows Chiyo is a dog.. yet also called her an 'animal"

Spring has sprung! Mustard greens, collard greens and white, yellow and purple onions. 4 rows of corn is sprouting. Tomatoes are blooming. AND the berries are blooming. :weee Can't wait for a big bowl of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream and blackberries. Mmmmmmmm!
Lucky you We planted tomato & various pepper plants 3 days ago & it got too cold the next night-over half of them bit the dust :barnie & we're right outside of San Antonio

Am I missing out on something? What map do we get onto!?
There is a link in my signature to the thread. It will tell you there how to get on it. It's a Google map of BYC members. If you have any problems, PM me.

Some chickie sized roosts for the brooder! I am a converted city boy so my "handy-man" skills are just above nill, so i am proud of my franken-roosts! Im learning and workin on it, so dont go makin fun! Just want the babies to have something new! Lol!
Nothing wrong with that! They look similar to what I did when I pulled some old scrap wood out of the scrap wood pile and threw a few screws in it.
Absolutely. Nothing wrong with that roost at all. I've been an avid woodworker for years and yet sometimes the stuff I throw together for the chickens looks just like that. Whatever does the job is good enough.

Can I just say I am so excited...25 days until I get my shipment of chicks from McMurray! I can hardly contain myself. My sweet husband and his best friend are in the process of building the coop (it's a slow process as they both work long hours). YAY!

Little Wing great garden! We started ours indoors and moved all the seedlings outdoors two weeks ago. Our Spinach and Lettuce are taking off like crazy. :)

cant wait to do my garden next year! everything is clay where i am so i am having to build my soil a bit before i can get anything really going. might do a little test garden this year though...now THATS going to be a real first time for me!

Have any of you guys ordered from mcmurray? Could you tell me what their birds temperaments are like? I hope they make good pets. I read somewhere that they can be mean.

Good morning, I've got 2 RIR, 1 Buff Orpington, and 2 Dark Brahma hens from McMurray about a year ago and they are the most sociable of the flock. But keep in mind I've only had chickens about a year and don't have a lot to compare them to.

I've got my order in to McMurray this year as Ideal showed all their breeds as "out of stock." I remember reading a story, I think on the original Old Timers thread, of a lady that had a flock of dark Cornish from McMurray that were incredible foragers and had actually chased off a fox that had killed a couple of her other hens. I hope her group wasn't a fluke in the attitude department. I love the thought of chickens so tough that they take on a fox! (and I've got a fox den under my barn that I can't get rid of, too). My peeps are arriving on April 15th.
