We rarely have snow here so it's nice but I wouldn't want it all the time like some get :)

Looks great!

They messed up the forecast here bad - said it was going to be raining with flurries and sleet and below freezing this morning. Boy were they way off and I did extra work preparing for a freeze and icky weather this morning. Oh well.

Now my extra work begins cleared the snow off the coop gave them their scratch inside not sure if I should let them out or not their 5 months but where I got them from they were always in a lamp of some kind so they don't like cold I just don't want them to have frost bite?

You can try mixing hot hot chillies with the feed. Birds like them but squirrels will avoid it. This also works for keeping them from chewing on your house. Long story short, I worked in a pet store and someone came in asking for advice on how to keep squirrels from chewing on stuff - turns out they had treated their shingles with linseed oil which the rodents found delicious. I told them to mix a spray of tabasco and water and hit the areas they were working on - it worked.
Oh, thanks. I am so going to try that. Maybe I'll try the seeds from jalapeños when I make pepper jelly again next week.

The HOA's are really a pain. I have lived in many in the last 40 years, which is about as long as they have been active in Texas. They did come from someplace else because it's hard for a Native Born Texan to accept it. They supposedly are trying to keep the neighborhood up but I'd try to stay out of them if possible. You'll be a happier person.

Oh come on down here, you can hang with us. Heck I live so far off the road people have to go thru 3 gates. I have two signs on the first gate IS THERE LIFE AFTER DEATH?? TRESPASS AND FIND OUT. THE SECOND SIGN NO TRESPASSING I OWN FIREARMS AND A BACKHOE. the other gate NO TRESPASSING ONLY THOSE WHOM BELIEVE IN REBIRTH SHOULD ENTER.
NO TRESPASSING YOUR IN IN RANGE OF ATTACK CHICKEN.

Oh don't worry, they are fine in the snow. Mine love it - well all of them except for my EE, who is named Gallena and really acts like she's Latina. The frost bite is more for any sort of cold weather, not just snow. You can put a little vaseline on their combs and wattles if you're concerned. Mostly they need a windbreak. I worry about my hens much more in the heat than the cold. Don't forget, they're wearing down jackets! Also, snow acts as an insulator so I usually leave it on the roof, just clear off any areas where it might melt and drip and freeze and crack something. Make sure they have drinkable water too, otherwise, you're good.

This was the first time J.Lo the White Rock had ever seen snow. She went on a little adventure through the pines all by herself.
