Texas

Yeah, sometimes I wish it was 7-day weekend, 2 days isn't enough to rest! Haha

I know it. I was telling my co-workers I hate Monday and Fridays all heck breaks loss on those days.

People that had an emergency on Tuesday don't decide it's an emergency until Friday. Or until it's too late, in which case this imaginary emergency is Monday suddenly. Feel bad for folks that still have to deal with idiots like this. Mostly in upper management. Or customers. both as clueless hahahahah!

*waves like a crazy lunatic*

I'm from Texas, I'm from Texas!!! I wanna play with you guys! From the ever, unfortunately, growing town of new braunfels. Big town with a small town mentality. If you have(n't-edit, oops!) heard of NB, shame on you.

I live on a lil ranchette that we call the compound with my family. Between us all we have 5 dogs, 3 horses, show cattle who's numbers changed each year, 30-45 rabbits depending on the season, and my newest edition of 12 baby mutt chicks.

I am also the proud mamma of the cutest 6 month old baby boy any has ever seen.

*makes myself comfy on the Texas couch* btw....I bleed texas pride.

If I had a dime for half the things I did that didn't make no sense at all i'd be living a little higher on the hall

Been awhile since I have posted in this thread. I got 3 pullets and some meaties last year from TSC to raise in town last year, (I was a chicken outlaw) against my wife's better judgement. She was anti-chicken (they stink, smell, are the nastiest creatures on Earth, etc.). We finally bought a small farm at the end of last year in the town we had been looking in for years. When we moved, my wife found someone who was selling easter egger and BO pullets and bought us three of each. She knows chick days are around the corner and has asked me multiple times how many we are buying this year. lol She wants to get double what I want. I guess I have been able to squash the rumors of those nasty filthy creatures to her and a lot of my friends because they keep asking me questions about coops, eggs, free-ranging, etc.

She loved the meat we raised last year and is now in a panic because we have very little left. I raised 39 meaties last year, gave away a little and sold a few, but kept most for us. This year she is wanting to raise 300-500

meaties. She has friends who are wanting to purchase a years worth of chicken from us. We are also getting 30 more pullets for eggs because we cannot keep fresh eggs for our self because my 7yo son sells them to the neighbors as fast as they lay. I also have a gentleman wanting to buy 30-40 dozen eggs a week from my son! This chicken math thing is getting out of hand quick and I do not mind one bit.

I had the same sort of scenario with my husband. I have been wanting to get some laying hens for years. I really have fond memories of my chickens growing up. But he was adamant that he didn't want any chickens around period. Finally I put my foot down and said enough is enough I AM getting some chicks. You don't have to deal with them or see them or have anything to do with them. He caved in with just a little grumbling and eyerolling. This was just last summer. Now he wants me to make sure the new chicken coop is large enough that we can expand to 100+ laying hens!

Ok by me! He also likes to sneak special snacks into the grocery cart for the girls and still try to say he doesn't like them at all. It's funny how quick minds can change. hehe

Hey ya'll!!! I'm from Seadrift ~ a little-known jewel here on the coast south of Houston, north of Corpus. I'm reading this having dejavu. My husband tries to act like he's just indulging me when his buddies ask him what he's doing this weekend and he tells them re-doing a coop for me. HA! I've never once even suggested he improve upon his first attempt. He does it for fun!

This weekend he spent his time (and $!) putting in a third run for our ladies. We like to rotate them. This latest run is about 120' x 60' or some crap like that. We have 3 now. Currently have 43 eggers and 13 FR's. Oh- and I almost forgot - 14 more 3 month old BA's. Freeloaders :(

Loving the chicken life. People look at us like we're nuts when they find out we grow chickens for eating. 'Specially when its 69cents a pound at the store!
