Think I could get away with asking for a raise?

BTW, I'm thinking my database is going to have to be something I keep well hidden. It is a clear line of site directly into the heart of my OCD...
ROFLAMO.. you need one for dealing with me on a daily basis!

I'm amazed my husband puts up with me

Hey!! I resemble that remark...**sniffs**

There's a reason I'm in quality....of course, they never pay attention to the defects I write up, so it's kinda wasted effort....but...The best day I had was when a critica came rushing up the channels. Big customer all po'd about something not working right. They were all, "Why didn't you catch this with your testing? You're obviously not doing things right, in your department." I calmly ((uh huh)) pointed out that had they bothered to pay attention and not defer the defects submitted the problem would never have hit the field in the first place. That went over like a lead balloon.

Re: test hatching - that requires separate units.  Breeding pens.  Which is what I'm trying to avoid having to build.  If I am trapping the hen and only a single rooster is in with them....and I hatch that particular hen's eggs....then, I'd know the mother and father without question. I'm getting my test hatch without a breeding pen or need to remove the hen from the group for any period of time.

Oh well - I'm guessing this means that y'all are thinking breeding pens are really the only/best option.
I have trap nested. It's a great option if you are able to check them at least 3 times during the day to let them out. One rooster, many hens, wanted to know absolutely who laid what. Most breeders I know of don't do it, but I don't know why not. Unless they are not there during the day. Which is pretty likely guess.

Been following this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/567357/the-trap-nesting-thread From the beginning. This fella explains it all pretty good but it took me a lot of studying the old articles and such to get it right. How you do the door is important. People do pop up from time to time with "just use the pigeon trap doors" but I have yet to hear from a breeder that does or has used them. Easy to make once you get the idea. Once I get moved and get my new setup.. well, set up (lol) I'll be using my trap nests again.

Oh, when your dog is out in the golf cart has she shown any tendency to lunge at them or anything? If she just watches them calmly I think you might have a good start to letting them get to know each other.
No, she sits calmly watching them, but she keeps throwing me glances, like, "Mo-om-m-m." I can't let her run free in the yard though since it's unfenced and she will run off down the road. Since she's only 5 lbs, she is subject to being picked off by the neighborhood hawk. This morning at 6 we had a huge owl checking out the chicken pen. But for her action with the chickens, she's always been really good with them but there's been a fence between them. She used to peer over the top of the brooder box and I swear they think she's their mother. They always run toward her.
