Don't beat yourself up, if they don't hatch on their own, they have a good chance of not making it. Some are just not strong enough.![]()
I am happy to hear about the others![]()
I'm just getting into chickens. I had 6 hens (3 production reds, 3 barred rocks) fall into my lap. After a crash course in adult chicken care, I've been enjoying getting eggs (3-6) from them everyday, and sharing with friends and family.
For personal pleasure (mostly to watch my niece and nephew flip out), I would like to add an (...or maybe a couple) Americauna/Easter Egger to my group for that random egg of a different color.
Does anyone have, or know where I can find a laying hen(s)? I'm in San Marcos, and would love to find somebody nearby.
Please PM me if you have one (or a couple) you would be willing to sell.
Thanks!
Welcome!Hey all, new guy here. Located in San Antonio. The wife and I hope to buy some property south of town in the next year or so and one of the first things I want to do is start raising chickens. that is how I found this board, google, lots of great info here I am already learning a lot.

Glad you were able to get it fastened down. We could hear some trees coming down during the night and when you live surrounded by 70 ft pines its pretty scary. Didnt lose power and the fence wasnt damaged. All good things and it has cleared off and looks to be nice for the rest of the week.Welcome John,
Well we didn't do to bad yesterday only lost 2 pieces of tin off the old barn I got home and had to screw down about 6 pieces to keep them from blowing off. Guess I'll buy a couple of bags of screws and work on the roof tonight!hope all is well 4 everybody.![]()
I have been fallowing that EO thread and I tell you I'm so green with envy over those birds, I want a trio of each color lol
Oh good golly the wind was gusting up to I dont' know what here in Houston yesterday. I'm not surprised it knocked out the power in places. It was awful!
But I did get a decent picture or two of my babies, the Buff Orpingtons I got from thedragonlady in South Carolina and naturally want to show them off. They are not quite 5 months old and were out in the front messing up my rosebed yesterday evening:

Well, check out one of our little babies on my man's shoulder....I'm new, he isn't and would like to network with some other Texan backyard chicken keepers. Looking forward to hearing from ya.
