yup.. I noticed that too

But there are a lot of chicks that fall into the "chipmunk" profile...so .. yeah.. I think the chicken gods are laughing at us right about now!

Probably so. **snickers** And, lord the noise upstairs....my husband took one look and said, "I need to double the size of that brooder...now, let's see, how'm I gonna do that...." and wandered off to figure out how to make my brooder bigger.

That little chick only has four toes, once you mentioned it I checked all their little feet. Though I have to say typing is rather hard with three chicks trying to help!

Video of chicks on keyboard

A whole new meaning to hunt and peck style typing.

Too cute. I can't wait to hear how you explain chicken poop in the keyboard to your IT department.....

if they are from ideal, then dorking couldnt be in the mix...i dont believe that is on their list of chicks.

this one have that same eye-liner?
Dorkings are definitely available from Ideal....**laughs** I picked up a boxload of them last week from Ideal. Drove over and got them, didn't have them shipped. They are not high quality Dorkings, and who knows what could possibly in the mix besides Dorking....but, they do have them

The rest of the colouration on that one makes it very clearly not a Dorking; but, yeah - the eyeliner and chipmunk stripe are Dorking markings - along with five toes. But, like Yinepu said - lots of chicks have chipmunk style markings....the five toes are the clue for Dorkings.

placing breeds on chicks so young is painful, in my opinion. So many of them look so much alike!!!

i understand that! i was so scared when i was looking at my BR's chicks the first day or two. Sex link males have the white spot...surely i didnt get a bunch of hybrid roosters...no way! lol........but now they are def BR's and im hoping all pullets (were sexed when i got them)

I was just curious as to what they were. I will keep you guys posted as they change. And as far as IT, I am the IT department. LOL. Hopefully I won't be too long at this job. I am looking forward to my new one at the nuclear plant! (pay raise and benefits here I come!!!!)

I will be cooking at the cafeteria there in the plant. The part they call the burger barn.

Meh...all my BRs had white spots. Not uncommon for the gals to have them, too. The "defining" characteristic of the white spot is supposedly the girls are well defined and the boys are bigger and more splotchy or something like that. But, since I have three gals and all three had massive white spots on their head....I kinda threw that concept out the door. The wash down the front of the legs was more in line with what I had; and, once the feathers started coming in, it was even more clear. But, the white spots....didn't work for me. Glad, too - else, I'd have three boys

and...I wanna cry for the state of the human race....someone just asked on a thread if they could hatch fertile eggs laid by a hatchery bred hen and rooster...

Hi! I hate to say this but I am so proud of myself. For me to figure out how to change my avatar is almost unheard of, I am definitely not computer savy!!!! But that is my little girl in the picture that is almost a year ago but those are a few of my chicks behind her. I will try to download some more pics soon.
