Texas

Personally, I think that sounds fine plus much safer. Once they feather out, they really don't need as much heat. Please, please everyone using space heaters be careful - there was a coop fire near me 2wks ago due to one. Two birds dead, the whole coop destroyed, etc. One of the Kennedy kids. I don't want to sound rude, just don't want anyone losing their coops, birds, or houses. Remember up here in the north none of us heat our coops all winter. Unless they are teeny tiny with no feathers they will do just fine. My $.02.
Good morning everyone,

Thank you, My babies made it alright. Everyone accounted for and chattering away when I just went in there. One of the ducks, which I have decided to name Gabby guess why

, was quick to let me know it had just gotten out of the mini pool tub I put in there for them and a heat lamp would be nice. Those ducks are so smart! They knew the first time out of the coop which coop to run back to. This morning as he/she(?) , Gabby, was gabbing away at me fresh out of the little pool, she was also pecking at the heat lamp. LOL I bet something like "Hey hey this is not working, what in the world is going on?, I can make due with this but having that hanging red thing on would sure be nice."

We must not have gotten below freezing because there wasn't any frost to be seen. Normally there is when it gets that cold out. I hope everyone else did okay last night and stayed nice and warm.

Hey Kili.. I thought your BA was the sheriff.........

wasn't he watching out for the girls the other day?

He sure was. We had an interesting event last night...our two mini-flocks met up. They've slowly been expanding their range toward each other when we let the out at night to free range. Last night they met. OMG it was so funny. Breakfast (the bold female BA) had scouted out on her own like she's wont to do and saw The Girls (in particular, Roxanne). She stared and stared - then went running (literally) back to Dinner (the roo) nattering away. The next thing you know - the entire crew of The Rascals was on their way over to check out The Girls. The Girls couldn't have cared less. They looked up, decided The Rascals weren't worth their time and went back to destroying my leaves that I had covered my herbs with (little brats). Then...Dinner decided he really needed to check them out and wound up like five inches away with Breakfast in tow. Buffy (our head hen for The Girls) slammed to a stop and started giving Dinner the stink eye. It was a standoff - I expected some sort of "shoot out at O K Corral" or something. Instead, after a few minutes, with The Girls coming up and standing behind Buffy and giving The Rascals the stink eye, The Rascals all went high tailing it back over to the rabbit hutch where they tend to prefer to hang out. It was pretty funny.

I just... had to

OMG, I laughed so hard when I saw that. I'm going to have to show it to Mike.

I am hoping my strawberries, grapes, black berry , blue berry, cataloupe, and water mellon make it. I can't remember what else I planted. I think tomatoes, but not much else sprouted... I think I just need to go get some started plants after the freezing is done.... *sigh*
I hope our weatherproofing held up overnight. I already lost my plants I started from seed once. These are all starts from Calloways, and my husband s going to have a hard time letting me buy replacements again

Hmph, so apparently two E TX people can get straw. Apparently we are just too close to Dallas. Guess I need to start heading farther east to check out feed stores when I want something I can't get here.
We have an Atwoods in Greenville with straw and great prices, and the TSC in Wylie, where we used to live has it, too. I don't know if those towns are accessible for you.
