Right, I bought all my chicks at same time from Murray and requested the certificate in case I wanted to show. I don't think I'm going to mess with it, seems like a big ordeal. But, yes, I knew it was not to certify me or my operation just to say that my chicks were purchased from an NPIP certified location.Just to make sure what you're saying is clear - the NPIP certificate was solely to provide you coverage if you decided to show - not to claim you were NPIP certified, right?
NPIP cannot be transferred with the sale of chicks, just to make it clear to the original asker. They are handled by the state, not the hatchery. So while you can prove that your particular chicks from McMurray came from an NPIP certified facility, you cannot prove you are NPIP. They have to test your "whole flock", even if it's just the chicks you ordered from McMurray. The requirement is for x% of your flock to be tested at your facility/farm and pass testing/inspection. If you can prove that your entire flock originated from NPIP certified organizations, NPIP certification testing requirements can be waived. However, you are not considered NPIP without getting the certification from your state.
You can read more about it and other regulations here:

Well, my SS#1 is visiting for a while. May be living here for quite some time...but, we put him to work.
They designed the sign:
Then they painted it. Pretty colour!!
And, now she's almost done.
We still have to put the roosts in, the stairs and ramp in the back and divide the nesting boxes; but, for the most part, she's done! I'm trying to convince Mike that we need hitching posts out front. He has made a sign, though...it is a small "chalkboard" sign that has the rates of the hotel on it.
Daily = 1 egg
Weekly = 5 eggs
Meals included
That cracked me up.
He's chomping at the bit to get started on The Broken Yolk; but, I refuse to let him until he finishes the "nit pick" work on this one![]()
