That's what I was afraid of! What are the odds she will go broody? Any idea? I want a broody!!!

just make sure they can stay warm and dry.. the hen should take care of the rest
I'm also assuming that blackhead disease isn't an issue in your area

it all depends on the individual bird. i have had some hatchery birds that have never gone broody.. yet "heritage" birds of the same breed have gone broody at the drop of a hat
Other hens just aren't bred for going broody at all (the high production layers especially)

is she a true ameracauna or an easter egger?
true ameracaunas are a bit iffy as to broodiness.. some people have had very broody girls.. others couldn't get one to go broody if her life depended on it.. most websites will claim they are non broody birds.. but a bunch of people on here have had them set a nest and made excellent mothers.

if she's an easter egger it would depend more on what all is in her bloodline since they are basically "mutts" depending on the source. For example.. you can cross an ameracauna with a cochin and end up with easter eggers that would go broody much easier than if you had one that was a cross between a leghorn and an ameracauna

edited to add:

if you REALLY want a broody.. there are several breeds that are known for their broodiness.. you could always add one or two to your flock .. two that come to mind right away are cochins and silkies.

She's true. Farm raised. I'm hoping she does. I've got one of each : BR, RIR, SS, amercauna , a game banty mix and am picking up a SLW this week. I am looking for a frizzled Cochin roo, though. So I need someone to be broody! Lol

Game hens are supposed to be a really broody breed. Since you have one of them that may be your ticket! Im in the process of getting some quality silkies for that purpose as well

Here are my Americauna's that are growing quickly. I have 8 of them, but they were all a little hyper this morning. LOL! They are about 6-7 weeks old. We have more hatching at the school today. We had 60 incubating and we had a 75% fertile rate when we candled them. Maybe we will have a good many hatch out in the next couple of days. Exciting to see the kids excited about it. I will post some pics of our coop that we are building. We have gotten some great ideas about converting an existing shed into a coop, and that is what we are doing. They are in a run and coop now, but we are going to give them more space in the next week or so. I can't wait to let them out to start free ranging in the yard.
