Hey y'all! :D

I finally got my chicks. They're lovely ladies at 7 weeks old. From left to right: Black Australorp (Ms. Ruth), Dominique (no name yet), and a Buff Brahma (no name yet).

They're so much fun to watch! They've been scratching in the dirt like adults do. Ms. Ruth (the black australorp) really looks a person over and is a bit suspicious. The dominique is a brave soul who already doesn't mind sitting on my knee. She had some poopy butt (not at the vent, just stuck in her feathers) so I cleaned her off, which she seemed to enjoy, and I think I found a few mites. So I'm going to dust them and their living quarters.
The buff brahma is quite shy but she's getting better.
Today is the third day that I've had them and they're already sort of greeting me though they're still a little unsure of me (unless they hear the crinkle of the mealworm package). It's a bit hot to lock them inside the coop 24/7 so during the day they're in the run. I'm struggling to get them to go into their coop at night. I tried a flashlight yesterday but I still had to put them inside. It was one of those little push button LED flashlights. Maybe I'm doing things wrong? Maybe I should hang a work light and turn it on before it starts to get dark and just leave it on at night? I hesitate to leave it on all night because of attracting bugs like mosquito.

I have never dealt with Ideal in Cameron. Personally, I like Hill Country Poultry in Burnet. You can view their inventory on just about a daily basis on their website hillcountrypoultry.com. They also sell custom coops and other supplies you may need. It is a family owned small business, and is where I got most of my flock. They have good a good selection, and I must say I am pleased with my experience with them. May just be worth checking out.

Ok Dallas bator users, what humidity should I be shooting for? My humidity in my house is 48!
dry dry dry dry

I wouldn't add any water at all unless the air cells are calling for it

i've even been hatching dry this year since when I did bump up the humidity at hatch I had a couple that were a teeny bit too sticky for my liking.. so not adding water at all for incubating or hatching atm
