Derp. I guess you don't need anything special to buy one eh? I didn't even know there wasn't a waiting period here... I've only shot friend's handguns at the range, haven't had the funds to buy my own yet. But it's time. Doing research to figure out what I should get.

pistol or rifle or shotgun...thats the first question to answer.

i have an old 20 gauge that i use as pest/varmit/snake control. have a .22 to deter strays, then got my 30-30 for my coyotes and bigger problems...

they def come in handy!!

I bought a Beretta 22 handgun to shoot coons, from Academy last year. Our other guns are to high powered for killing varmints. Plus 22LR ammo is cheap compared to the big stuff. You need to have a Texas ID or DL, be over 21 for a handgun, and your ID address needs to be current and up to date.

Just make sure that you can find ammo for the one you end up buying..
Yep! Things had been cooling off a bit and we found some ammo cheaper again, but things are likely gonna start heating up soon with more gun legislation being pushed in D.C. so there'll likely be another mad rush on ammo driving up prices if you can find it at all.

Shotgun shells seem to be a little easier to find than ammo for handguns.

a 30-30 for coyotes? Lol.. you must be shooting long range

we use 30-30 for hogs... coyotes get .223

i dont have a .223 or id def use that. Out here its pastureland though so i can see them a good ways of. Our back fence is a good 80 yds away and ill watch for them to come across the neighbors pasture and as soon as they cross that fence they are in the cross hairs

So, I feel really bad, I was so focused on the one with the limp I didn't notice the other had a hurt eye :( they both got droppers full of sav a chick.

400

They both laid eggs today, one was very weirdly shaped and had calcium spots. I figured it would be a while before they are back to normal.
