Texas

DH got to talk to a neighbor, said he's seen a pack of 4 dogs roaming the neighborhood. Sounds like they're strays then. Hopefully our trail cam catches something useful.

Apparently the flock gave our house sitter quite a time. We took a 7 day cruise, and returned home today.

My report read :

"Your chickens are crazy. I got assaulted by the spotted one (my SS). She tried to sit in my lap. Your rooster crows way to early. Your little chickens wouldn't coop, so had to spend the night with an open door. Your big birds wouldn't sit still for me to head count, so I'm really not sure how many there really is. However, I got at least 4 very delicious eggs a day.

PS...you need eggs and milk. I used them all"

*sigh* all but 1 SLW pullet is accounted for. I believe it was a coon, lots of feathers. Not his fault though. The big runs wire is all bent up. Lots of loose limbs knocked into the run. He also said lots of feeders were knocked off in the rabbit barn each night too. Going to set the trap tonight.

Anywho. I'm back!!!

So far as dead ones, in this heat it's easy to lose them to that. But heck, what do I know.

Been out of this thread and sort of out of touch lately with the BIG MOVE. Well, I'm now on 5 acres in East Texas. It's Heaven here. Town is called Colmesneil, around 10 miles north of Woodville and a 20 minute drive to Sam Rayburn. Oh My God I love it here. TONS of work to do but I am tackling it all with a huge grin. Got all my stuff moved here Saturday before last by family and got a tractor with front loader and 5' brush hog 3 days ago.

The brush and trash on this 5 acres is over my head, and I mean while I'm sitting on the tractor! But I'm loving every minute. The birds are in a 60 year old "barn" building where I have fenced and sealed it all off for them with welded wire and next week I hope to have better digs built for them. In the meantime I'm clearing and cleaning and burning trash and.. omg doing everything. Being I'm nearly 59 and with bad discs in my back it's not so easy but hell, I'll get 'er done and I'm loving it!

Congratulations!
Ken

But you need to update your map location. No one knows where Colmesneil is!
