Texas

But you need to update your map location. No one knows where Colmesneil is!

I added myself to the map :)

So far as dead ones, in this heat it's easy to lose them to that. But heck, what do I know.

Been out of this thread and sort of out of touch lately with the BIG MOVE. Well, I'm now on 5 acres in East Texas. It's Heaven here. Town is called Colmesneil, around 10 miles north of Woodville and a 20 minute drive to Sam Rayburn. Oh My God I love it here. TONS of work to do but I am tackling it all with a huge grin. Got all my stuff moved here Saturday before last by family and got a tractor with front loader and 5' brush hog 3 days ago.

The brush and trash on this 5 acres is over my head, and I mean while I'm sitting on the tractor! But I'm loving every minute. The birds are in a 60 year old "barn" building where I have fenced and sealed it all off for them with welded wire and next week I hope to have better digs built for them. In the meantime I'm clearing and cleaning and burning trash and.. omg doing everything. Being I'm nearly 59 and with bad discs in my back it's not so easy but hell, I'll get 'er done and I'm loving it!
Congratulations Galanie! Country living is the best. Can't you just feel all that tension rolling off of you!
Hi there! I am new to this forum and to chick raising! I live in the Lavon/Nevada area, north of Rockwall. Anyone near there? I now have 5 chickens... 1 Red Sex link named Red (it should be "lucky" because she survived something breaking into our coop and killing the other 3 chickens). We just purchased 4 new 9 week old chicks... A Gold laced wyandotte named Lady GaGa, a silver laced wyandotte named Scarlett, a buff brahma named Barbara, and a black sex link named Loretta. I live on 6 acres and have 5 horses and 3 dogs also. I am a city transplant and love it!
Howdy and welcome LauriTX!! Get ready to meet some really nice (but chicken-crazy) people!

Lisa :)

I had a crime scene in my yard Saturday night, something broke in, and beat my LGD puppy up, she was covered with slobber all over her back and head and was hiding under my patio chairs. Then it tore my Austrolorpe Pullet in two, and only left her bottom half. Her head and wings were gone, no where to be found. At first I thought my pup did it, because she likes to chase the chickens, but she had no blood on her and all that slobber in her coat, and was acting freaked out. Very sad, hard way for my bird to go, and frustrating I lost one that was just a month or so away from laying. :(

Houston only has 7 dog gone dogcathers! Whisky tango foxtrot!!! There is a dog that needs pickin up! I'm aboot to shoot it! I called and reported it last week and the owner and other neighbors have called as well! Ugh! I HATE THIS GODFORSAKEN CITY! CANT WAIT TO BE RID OF IT! COUNTRY LIVIN HERE WE COME!

There are other predators we have here that aren't on there though - like bobcats, mountain lions, etc. Not to mention cats. I had a cat that used to hunt jack rabbits. Watched him carry a full grown jack rabbit across our field by its broken neck.

I would suspect a dog though since it was big enough to mouth the puppy but didn't kill it. I don't know - awful wither way :(
