I may have marked my calendar wrong but I was supposed to be hatching out little chickies yesterday and they are late. I should probably just sit tight, but I noticed this morning that the rest of the broodies got back on schedule and there were eggs everywhere in there this morning. I tried marking them with pencils but the hens wear it off fast. Eggs look like they have been polished by a week. Has anyone used permanent marker? I am afraid of the toxins but maybe it is not that bad for the egg. Any thoughs?
I know moving the broody would be the best option but most of the time it is a community affair with my silkies. I do not worry about one giving up because another is always happy to start sitting. I think mine are broody more often than laying!
I've had shipped eggs sent to me marked with marker...they hatch so I guess it's fine
