Room for perhaps one more? Lol.

I temporarily live in El Paso (and will for about 3 years). Have a hubby, working on a family in the coming months, 4 cats (2 male, 2 female), 3 rabbits (2 of which may be pregnant >.>), and 4 ducks (also 2 male, 2 female) and as big of a garden as can comfortably fit in our yard lol!

Will get more of a menagerie when we all finally settle in our final destination. :p

How's everyone doing?

I posted a couple pictures of the furry/feathery gang.
1. Sir Quacks-alot (white male), Luna Duckjoy (white female), Mr. Peepers (black and white male) and Ms. Waddle (brown female)
2. Our duck egg (left) compared to a store-bought extra large chicken egg (right)
3. Q-tip (male), snowball and marshmallow
4. Ahri (kitten female)
5. Charley, Oliver (from left to right in back) and Lilly (front)

Sounds like you've got your hands full already and about to be fuller. Best wishes with your menagerie and your garden!

What large fowl white egg layers are good for Texas?  I want to free range them.  One of my Polish pullets gave me a few dozen eggs before stopping three weeks ago.  One gave me maybe two and another might have given me one egg.  The fourth Polish has yet to give me any eggs (all are 7.5 months old).  I need some white in my egg basket.
I LOVE this chart when looking at the characteristics of common chicken breeds :) It doesn't have every breed in the world of course but it has lots! http://www.ithaca.edu/staff/jhenderson/chooks/chooks.html

Thank you! It is work, but we feel it's the best kind! We take care of our animals, and in return they take care of us! It goes full circle and it's awesome that we can actually see the fruits of our labour come to fruition!
Ironically enough, with the cats, we don't have a rodent/bug or fly problem (Yes, I said fly lol) around our house. Our cats have adapted to fly stunners/killers when there isn't anything to chase around the house LOL

Quote: Golden Campines lay a white egg pretty frequently. I have a roo and three hens and they are a lot more friendly than the leghorns I just sold. They are also really beauteous

I finally finished my Fall project this afternoon. My partner helped me to complete this between all the part-time jobs we have on the weekend. Upon putting my chicken in, they kept on enjoying the grass

Welcome back Laura!!

I had to laugh when you all ate PEPPER jack cheese to get rid of the wine burn!!   :lau

To be fair, it was super mild, creamy cheese, haha! And I was kind of addicted to them all, hehe! Plus, they had a place that allowed you to sample different items like a raspberry Chipotle sauce and pie fillings and they were all so wonderful! Except the chupacabra salsa that Mom didn't believe me about. When people start naming salsas after mythical bloodsucking goat killers, it's probably going to be hot.

Needless to say, we ate so many delicious things, hehe!
