I have a large pond next to the fence. When this pond dries out, the varmint can easily walk to the fence. Once they can smell the chickens, it is hard to keep them off the property.

Lisa Dear:
No need for me to move to Bastrop as all my birds are retired here at my friend's ranch. I have this friend, named Mark, for 20 yrs., I used to work with him. He is deaf so we created a mutual understanding well. Since he has chickens, it is perfect for me to rent a corner and have mine, and he will do the feeding for me. I work very far from home, in San Marcos, but I can always stop at the ranch on my way home; i do this in middle of the week. This way I take care of the birds during the week; allowing me to be free on weekend to .. either visiting the chickens again, or visiting friends .. or working on my soccer referee duty .. or doing some writings, poems for Vietnamese magazines in Houston... or getting on with my movie career (with Robert Rodriguez) ... or visiting my parents in Sugar Land... or visiting Rosenberg ...
or else ...

At this moment, I am working on my retirement ranch in Vietnam where my in-laws reside. Someday, I will invite you to travel there ... to take pictures with my "new hen" and the other chickens.

Have a "horrible" Halloween ... to all .

All of that sounds really nice! Good for you in staying busy!

Re. your movie career: you will remember us here on the Texas forum when you become famous?

Yes .. once a Texan, always a Texan. So for tonight Halloween, you can search the internet for my movie "Planet of Terror"; just type "Hung Nguyen, Dr. Crane" or the title of the movie. I am at work now and cannot search the movie link. If I find the link tonight, I will post for ya'll to see. Warning: this movie is scary and nasty. Lisa, make sure you are 18 or older.

One of my babies went missing last night. Husband closed coop, said all 3 of the juvies were in there. This morning one is unaccounted for. No wired pulled down, no feathers....ugh! It was one of my frizzled pullets too. Grr.

I just found out that the links to Planet Terrors and other movies of mine were removed (copyrights). Here is a link referred to my part. If you have some movie accounts, you still can view.them. Regarding YouTube, after they removed the movies, give a few months, they will be posted again by someone else

Sigh....all the good actors die young

Yep, they all die young.... Jimmy Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Jack Tripper, Hung Nguyen ...

I appeared twice in this movie. At about 26-27 min, I was Dr. Crane talking to the head doctor. Then later... they killed me ... hic hic

BTW how are you and your chicken doing today ? Hope the rain did not mess up anything. Tonight I will come checking on my loose birds (my partners did report earlier that they were all here last night)

Everyone is doing just fine. My flock loves the rain and won't stay indoors. It must be all the worms and bugs that come bubbling up to the top! We got 1 1/2" rain. Thankfully the sun is out. I am another one that doesn't like to be cooped up!

Lisa :)

Very weird ! I don't see my chicken eating the earth worm. I saw these worms coming up after the rain and the chickens just walked around and did not even noticed. It's the other way around in Vietnam when I grew up. Overthere I just learned that all chickens love earth worms. They love these so much that many chickens swallowed rubber bands by mistake .. and actually died from eating rubber bands.

I guess ... just like us Human, the chickens are tired of food when they had too much.
