Its definitely contagious!  I have 1 White Leghorn, 16 Production Reds, 1 Brown Leghorn, 25 Jersey Giants, 16 Naked Necks, 4 Easter Eggers, 1 Barred Rock, and 1 Buff Brahma.  Love my babies :)  And I want to start a flock of about 15 Brahmas and 15 Easter Eggers.  Already have a trade set up for EE eggs from a friend to hatch.  Yay!  I want to drown in chickens lol

So many chickens! I have a good mix of breeds, but a good portion of them are little mutts. I love my mutts, haha!

I really want to maximize the potential of the flock, so I really have to work on getting only hens from this point on. I think, however, that instead of buying more chickens, I'll but Guinea hens. I need some help with pest control and the chickens only help when they feel like it, haha! :D

I got a bit overzealous last night when painting an egg. I was determined to make an elegant looking night sky and it kinda turned into something...not so elegant, haha! It's still pretty, though! ;)

They still need another coat of gloss to smooth them out, but once it is finished, I think it'll look very nice. I just need to figure out what to do with it, haha! :D

This is Equal Opportunity. When I came to this country (1975), I read about EOE in the newspaper Help Wanted as they wrote EOE M/F/H. I was new to this country and was impressed with how the folks are very open with what they say and think. Well, it took me a good while to realize that they did not mean Homo as the 3rd gender in this EOE.

Just wanted to drop a line and wish everyone a wonderful day today! Kinda windy out, but the temp is lovely!

Still trying to catch up on reading from last week. Wasn't on much due to Valentine's day,(I'm a florist, and help at the family shop during the big holidays). We did get some work done on the coop yesterday. I also scored me a big watermelon box from Wal-Mart for my brooder!

I need to set it up and I'll be almost ready for my chicks. I can't wait to get them!

Have a great day everyone!

All these posts and pics of lovely birds are giving me the chills. Chicken fever, anyone?

I have it and can't get any just yet. :/ Maybe after I get my tax refund I can start building my coop and run.

Very nice! I tried to blow out an egg once and got a big headache from it. How do you blow out yours? I can't imagine doing 13 like you did the other night without some kind of help.

It is very windy! I wanted to go cycling since I don't have kids to watch today and can't because it is too windy.

A watermelon box for a brooder? Great idea! They won't be jumping out of there any time soon.

Dr visit, $150, ear infection, antibiotics and ear drop. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow because I miss my chickens. I watch them graze from my bedroom window. That helps.

Gosh when I saw 150$ I thought a chicken went to the dr!! I. So sorry about the ear. I really hope it feels better tomorrow and you get back you your old self!

That's sooo pretty!!

Brought home two hens today. A Rhode island Red (use the term loosely, as it is a hatchery stock, which usually means production red) and another welsummer. Everyone is in for the night and no major blowups. They came from the same flock as my other two I got six weeks ago. Excited for up to 4 eggs a day.

gran how dark are your wellsummer eggs?  i found a breeder in northern ar that sells eggs and i am thinking about adding some to my flock.  of course i will be forced to raise a few if i have them anyway :)

I love my only Welsummer, she lays amazing eggs
