The Colonel and his girls are 4 weeks today! He is really showing his rooster-ness!

At what age do roosters start to crow?

I have room for 50 and my limit is coming up unless I build another coop and run. Which I have started picking up stuff to do just that anyways but don't tell her that.

I made chicken fried rice for dinner tonight and I put water chestnuts in it, I love them, but I didn't use the entire can so I gave them to my little peeps and they went nuts. LOVED them!

The news guy said this morning no rain today or tomorrow but pretty sure we would get a little Wednesday and even more Thursday! Well we had a pretty bad cloud come through and a nice little rain! LOL So I have no idea what will happen the rest of the week!

I sure hope it doesn't mess up our coop building. I enjoy watching these birds but I have go to get them out of my house. This daily sweeping and mopping is more work than I want!!

I love water chestnuts! We didn't have rain in the forecast either, but we got just a bit.

Help my oldest chicks have diarrhea what do u do???
How long have they had it? Are they active, eating, drinking and just being normal besides the runny poo?

Here's a link to different kinds of poo:

Mine will poop out runny poop, and then poop out normal poop. They just poop, poop, poop! When it's runny, they like to eat it! That's just nasty!

Do you think I could use the Scots Turf Builder where my girls free range? I have not used anything and I have got half weeds, that they care less about, and half St Augustine.
.

I don't know. I was wondering the same thing.

My wife talked me into it. She said you been talking about getting EE and did not want to get them from TSC or Atwoods cause I could not tel what breed is what there. She is like all of you by saying you need more. If I leave it up to her I would have chickens running out of my ears. I have 36 coming the end of April. Already have 2 turkeys she talked me into getting. When I go to TSC or Atwoods I have to go without her or make her sit in the car or we will walk out with more chickens. Time for more trips to Lowes. :)

Help my oldest chicks have diarrhea what do u do???

Do you think it is from something they ate?

Ok was in the middle of eating a Robin egg...malted milk balls.....when I opened that site. Yes I knew it was about poo but was not ready for the pics.... why that bothered me tonight I have NO idea. LOL

Sometimes right out of the egg, but you have to recognize it as a crow. I wouldn't be able to.
Well, they all make that clucking singing thing they do when they poo sometimes...at first I thought it was a crow then I was in there when one of them did it and I realized what was going on. So I haven't heard anything that sounds like a crow yet

Its so exciting.... it's like to go to bed one night knowing how they look and then some time the next day you look at them and they grew and have made major changes. LOL

Bird poop is made up of three components--feces, urine and urates. Urates are the white stuff that comes from the kidneys. Urine is clear. Don't mistake a lot of urine with diarrhea. Chickens also have a cecal poop that is completely different. It is stinky, tarry and when I first saw it, I was in a panic thinking the chicks had diarrhea. When you are looking for diarrhea in a bird, you have look at the feces part of the poop only. Sometimes it can get mixed with the urine and might look suspicious.
