Hi everyone!
I have a small flock of Marans in Central Texas (Bell County, Belton)

Does anyone around me Vaccinate for Marek's? I have to few birds to buy a whole batch of vaccine.

I've only shipped cakeballs....
I was told they were not super pretty, but they tasted great!
That said...I also had this awful post office lady who asked if they were fragile. And when I said yes, looked me dead in the eye and flipped the box over...

How RUDE!!! That is soooo wrong! Why do people have to be like that?

From my understanding it is pointless to vaccinate for marek's disease after the birds are 3 days or older. That's why they give the vaccine at a day old.

Yes you are right if you wait after 3 or 4 days old you are wasting your time and money.

Momma Belle and Speedy
And Becka I think she may finally be broody. she's the first over the fence, but she didn't go out today. She has 2 bantam eggs and 2 big eggs. She was a good momma last fall. Her name is Becka the Pecka because she will peck the fire out outta you if you mess with her eggs! She may be little but she has a mean beak!

Belle is doing the strangest thing...I started putting some chick feed on the board in the pic so that Speedy could find it easier. Belle steps up on the water cup and slings water down on the board. I don't know, but I swear she's doing it to get the feed soft so it's easier to eat and Speedy eats from her beak too. She is such a good mom.
