For those of you who are interested in such things...there will be a total lunar eclipse next Tuesday-Wednesday (April14-15) night. Totality won't be until 4:45 am Wednesday morning so will have to get up before your chickens if you want to see the best part of it. The moon should be a beautiful red-orange this time. Just FYI.

There is a young man here helping my cousin build an awning. His MIL has many silkies to find homes for. He didn't know what kind they are but will find out and let me know tomorrow. I don't know if they are chicks or grown birds. I said I would mention it here to help her out. I'm about 9 miles north of Conroe in Montgomery county. I'll get more info and post it tomorrow for anyone who might be interested.

Ooooh. Might have to wake DF up to go see it.

Chicken picture time!! We gave the teenagers a run today. Its 1000sf... They've explored every possible part of it and are absolutely in love. Now to build a few chicken approved gardens so they get greens once they eat through what's in there.

My little helpers helping with the tools.

orumpoultry....I saw the pics you posted yesterday. So glad you didn't have a fire from your meter meltdown! We had that happen to us in January. Fortunately our meter is out on the power pole. It was 28 degrees and windy while FIL and DH were trying to fix it. Sheco had to come turn the power off. Two trips to Lowes and working by flashlight, they got it fixed in about 4 hours. Sure was cold and that 20+ year old wire was so brittle. I hurt for them being out in the cold like that. My FIL is 75 it was really hard on him.

they look so happy!!!

Never did get my gang of little ones outside yesterday. It was just too windy and the wind was cold. They are going out today if I have to carry them one at a time.

Becka moved to another nest box. I guess the big girls layed too many of their eggs while she was out. Had 6 big eggs in that box. I put the two bantam eggs back under her in the new nest. Got pecked for my trouble too. Don't know if there are more under her. Will try to look if she goes out, other wise will be putting on gloves,, her peck will draw blood.

Back to work for me. Later folks
