I hope I didn't scare you lisaterrell88 I could be totally wrong and hope I am...there are probably other things that cause clear vent fluid...it just seemed logical plus the other symptoms you mentioned.

U didnt scare me. I am not sure if it is a btoken egg or if she is just having diahrriara and I am mistaking it for something else she seems to be pushing alot but like I said I dont feel nothing. I am gonna watch her close for a day or so and see what she does. She is eating and drinking. So idk what is going on.

Hi I'm from Bandera just about in the middle of nowhere. The closest big (meaning more than a population of 1000)cities are Beorne and Kerrville. We are just 20 miles west of Beorne and 40 miles south of Kerrville.

Welcome from Cut-N-Shoot!!!!! Been thru Bandera a few times and thought it was a great town.

I have a rolling fear of geese. To many times being chased. But they're beautiful birds and I'd love to have them if we ever expand away from just chickens.

I think I might get turkeys again though. They were so much fun and I was beyond excited when my ladies finally started laying.

I think my fox stole one of my cockerals yesterday. Down one teen during last nights head count and one of the pullets was running around doing the help me I'm lost peep outside of the fence.

The cockeral thats missing was a Houdini and I have yet to figure out how he got out every day.

Heading to am early morning doctor appointment. I officially quit smoking and my doctor will be glad to hear it.
Sorry to hear about your awol cockeral. Hopefully he'll turn up! As for the quitting smoking, congrats! Will be in prayer that you can kick it easily with no ill effects!

Morning all. After two weeks of sinus/respiratory infection, I'm finally feeling a liiiiiiittle bit better, but better noetheless. Starting allergy shots tomorrow so hopefully that will curb future occurences. Turns out, I'm allergic to just aboout everything! lol Weather man told us to hunker down for thunderstorms, high winds and quarter size hail last night... It was beautiful all night with a little lightning in the far off distance... That makes the third time in a month the world was supposed to come to an end and it blew right over/around us. lol Hope everyone is doin well. Have a great day!

Still no change on our eggs in the incubator. Last night at 8:30 would have been 'official hatch time'...I really thought our temps were right on but now I'm starting to wonder if its been to cool. I had 2 thermometers, one that I really trusted. After removing the turner I've had a few issues getting it back up to temp. The hydrometer (I believe is what its called) that I add on Friday is measuring right on with the one built into the incubator but the thermometer on it is showing a couple of degrees cooler.

I'm debating if I should leave them in the egg cartons (with the bottom cut off) or go ahead and lay them down. Or do half and half. I candled yesterday but didn't see any movement or internal pips. I've also read to add an hour per day that the egg was held...I'm not sure how accurate that is but I think I'm past that window too.

I'm really bummed I kept putting off getting more chicks because I figured I would have at least a few from our hatch. Plus, I have more eggs coming this week and if I can't figure out what I did wrong, what's the point?

I've heard peeping and tapping but now nothing...maybe they're just taking a break...

It's been awhile since I was on here last. So many pages went by! I'm not going to read them all, very busy these days.

Hubby and I are doing spring cleaning projects around our place and I decided we needed to do some updating on this old house we have. I'm getting a new kitchen! What a mess though!!

I have my garden planted and things are growing well. I'm doing weekly spraying with Neem Oil. Can you believe we have some good sized grasshoppers already? I thought for sure with the winter we had we wouldn't be seeing them quite so soon.

I have 18 eggs in the incubator right now. I wanted pretty eggs this time so I got some blue marans eggs and some cream legbar eggs. I'll keep a roo from each and hopefully get a good number of pullets. I'll get some Olive Eggers in the future then too. :)

Even though I have ben keeping chickens for 30 years I still like to do reading on chicken care. I just like to read in general. I try to learn something new every day and what better way to do that than to read? Yes, there is some conflicting info out there. What works well for one, may not work well for another. I read and try what I want and see how it goes.

It's sad that there are people in the world that can't read, even sadder that won't read. Then there are those who are so closed minded that when they read or hear something new they won't even try it to see if it is valid. I like to support literacy groups. My favorite is reading to kids at the library. Such a good cause. I encourage my kids to help as well. My daughters love it too. My boys not so much. ;)
