Texas

I do everyday. And my mom did some crazy things as a child. Things that make me have a near heart attack thinking of my children doing them. There idea of hitching a ride for example. They would ride their bike to the highway, wait got an 18 wheeler to drive by, then grab hold of the rear of the truck and hitch a ride all the way too and from town! My mom and her brothers were crazy and loved causing trouble. Guess that's where i get some of my attitude from lol.

She sounds like some of the folks I used to hang out with when I was younger!! Maybe someday we will get to meet. Are you coming to Trade days in Conroe next week??

Anyways, back to chickens, ducks, and geese! I had my pen divided for 2 weeks with my 9 week old RIR, BR, SLW, 2 white chese geese, and 5/6 week old BO on one side. And my 4 week old BA chicks, 2 African geese, and 2 3 week old white Chinese geese on the other. I removed the barrier last night as they were settling down for bed. This morning there is some pecking of the BA chicks. I left the chick feeder in there for the babies and have 2 hanging feeders for the older birds. The older chickens went to the chick feeders and will now chase the BA chicks away rather than share it. Is this normal pecking order behavior? Should I put the barrier back? No one is injured and a few BA are mingling with the older flock, I put lots of hiding places for the chicks to get away from the bigger birds.

No :hit. I will be working on making my storage building into a coop. It needs to get done ASAP. And I have a lot on my plate. My son cracked a tooth this weekend and need to get it fixed. Need to do registration on my car. Have that elderly gentleman staying with me while he figures out what step to take to get the rubble of his burnt home cleared. He can't drive so we take turns driving him where he needs to go. A few other things as well as picking up those crested ducks. Lol, I swear I meet myself coming and going.

I like just about any breed except toys breeds, especially chiwowa. Those things always end up bitty because the owners are all "don't spank Precious, she is just a baby". Ugh, give the dog dignity and treat it like a dog not a baby. I stick to large breeds myself, had boxers, German shepards, rotwiellers, as a child growing up. I do like my moms pigs and sisters shitzhu, but they don't have pampered little dog syndrome. My favorite breeds are the guard dog breeds that have a bad rap, shepards, Belgians, rotts, bullies, etc. raised right they are the best dogs, protective of family without needless aggression.

I completely agree!! I'm not a toy breed fan. I tease my mom & tell her that her Chi-weenie is just a snack for a big dog, lol!! Chico is the only little dog that I like. I actually call my younger brother "bro" & Chico "little brother" bc she treats that dog better than she treated us when we were kids!! I like bigger dogs that can hug back :). My smallest is our female English Bully. I like Corgies bc they r still working dogs & they don't realize they are smaller, lol!!

My nephew has a corgi, she is so spoiled and fat we call our Twinkie butt or chocolate eclair! Lol

I just sold 3 of my SLW Roos to a gentleman I have been buying and trading goslings with. He has a friend who has a flock of SLW hens and wants Roos for breeding. He may also want 1 for himself. That leaves me with 3 SLW Roos, 2 RIR Roos, and 1 BR Roo for sure. I have 1 BR and 1 RIR that I can't make up my mind if it is a butch hen or late blooming Roo. Guess time will tell. I'm probably going to keep the BR Roo, he is people friendly but is already showing protective instincts for the flock. He seems like he would be a great guardian for my girls.
