What's everyone's experience with DE? How much do you use? How do you use it? Any tips/tricks/recommendations welcome. I have a bag of DE, but haven't used it yet...still reading up on it. Don't want to hurt the birds...the bugs.

I'd have to pay a fee for animal control to come pick them up, if I understood what they told me on the phone right. Comes down to I would be surrendering an animal and so need to pay for its care type of BS. So either the person I talked to is full of crap, or they are trying anything to get a buck.
Star there should be no haul away fee. That should be on the owner not you. I guess counties can do what they want but I would investigate that further. Doesnt soud right to me. My mother worked for the the city office in my home town for years and they handeled that. There are state regulations every county/city has to follow. Differnt for each but I've never heard of that. This is a service we pay for as tax payers.

Worked super hard in the yard/garden today. Not sure I can drag my rear out of bed early in the morning to go to Conroe Trade Day. However, my garden and yard look awesome!!!

Well we officially have 5 peepers. There are still 2 more eggs. Not sure how long to wait on them..Since I don't know how far apart the eggs were laid, She buries them in the hay.

Adorable! Congrats!!

Harley, are you cooking those for all of us?? They look delicious. I'm thinking with a honey ham, I can have one ready next week!! let me head to the lease. We'll have a meal!!

Mags - He doesn't eat dog food. He eats what he catches. When he was three he took on, and won, over a Bob cat. The older he gets the less he can hunt as he is starting to ache. Blue won't live much past nine... Wasn't supposed to live past one after being hit by a car vet said out him down. All those pins and such in his back are holding him together and they hurt more often than not these days. He's a good boy.
Poor baby...but what a great life he has :)

If there is anyone out there that cares, this is what I have built for a newbie to the birdlife!!! I spent 2 and a half weeks of my life on this. Mama is happy and so are her girls. Well, here it is...
Looks amazing!!

Hi ya'll I've been busy w chicks hatching and my yorkie having her puppies all on the same day!

My jubilee Orp cane in last wk,too!
! And my Sebastopol gander arrived last week as well!

Am thankful my fibromyalgia hasn't flared up since I've taken on so much at one time.

Now pics!

Where did you get your jubilee from?
I am just so in love with all of those gorgeous Orps.
There's 2 places near me that sell and I'm resisting!

The chicks are doing great. Just lost the one the others are eating me out of house and home. Outside the 2 EE roosters got into a fight yesterday and the low one in the picking got hurt had to put him into a cage. The back of his head was very bad and bleeding so I dr him and put him in a cage but he wants back in the coop. Poor bird does not stand a chance to get on top of the other rooster. Guess I will ether get him his own girls or he may go to freezer camp. Only problem there is he is a bantam will be more of a snack the a meal.
Hotwings! lol joking

He is just TOO cute!!! Look at that grin...

While my babies are not as cute as Hung's, this is one of our new Olive Egger hatches from May 1st.
Too sweet!

My yorkie family!

We have a new addition to the ranch 2 weeks ago. Markie is a Red Bone coon hound, about 2.5 moths, a free gift from a friend. He walks around without disturbing the baby chicks.

PS: Markie is tired of standing on the 2 back legs. How do I turn the pix around ???
I LOVE him!

Sorry, wife roasted corn on grill along with steaks. Must have got them on sale (cheapskate). Love her for it!!. Get back with you in a few minutes!!
Ahahaa!! That sounds like me

My sebight Becka wound up keeping 6 chicks. The last one was making good progress about 3:30. Checked again at 4:30 found it up in the water bowl. She tried to kill it. Has 2 peck wounds on it. That's what she did with the dud eggs, kicked one into the water pan. It didn't drown but was soaked and cold. I grabbed an old sock wrapped it up and sat with it in the sun and dried it's feathers. Now in a bowl, inside a coffee can sitting on a heating pad. Is much stronger. See nothing wrong with it. I guess she decide no more because it hatched 4 days later than the first.
So we will be momma hens
Oh no! Glad you got her in time!

Now that I'm caught up,

I let @lovingmyhens littles out today to forage with my girls.
They did so good! I'm proud!
