I don't have much money, but have clothes my wife and I don't wear anymore, a lot of house hold items, etc. Can rally for some more stuff from my neighbors. Can get food if needed.

What do they need??

He needs everything to be honest. He didn't believe in banks and all his savings and possessions were in the house when it went up in flames. He is staying at my place for now, but he can't stay forever. What we really need is someone to knock down what's left of the house so he can either rebuild or get a small trailer. He is an 87 year old WW2 veteran and every place we have contacted asking for help has told us to contact someone else. He only got out with the cloths on his back, his pet cat is believed to have died in the fire. He tried to run back in to save her, my brother in law had to wrestle him back and away from the burning house.

I have known him since I was a small child. He had no where to go so I put him up. My husband gave him some cloths since they are the same pants size. My parents took him shopping, my sister gave him some food, but we can't do anymore for him without help.

They told us to contact habitat for humanity as all they can do is medical. Habitat for humanity won't help unless they get salvage out of it and there is nothing salvageable in the ruins of the house. Everywhere we turn we get excuses.

Let me talk to a few people I know, I may be able to help. That is all the govt. agencies are good for, excuses. We were put here to help each other out in time of need. I aim to do what I can!!

But we have family supposed to be coming to visit so he would need to be out when/if they come. Also the apartment isn't the best, we just finished tearing out and redoing an entire room for termite infestation and know the bathroom has them as well. So it's not really the greatest place to live until we get it completely termite free.

Plus I am pretty sure he wouldn't go somewhere else. He still holds out hope that his cat survived and will come back to him. He walks to his house everyday to put food out for her and mess with his garden. I think it's the only consolation he has, being close to his home, his garden, and hoping against hope that the cat survived.

The friend I was talking about owns a mobile home sales place. I will go talk to him in the morning and maybe we can get a roof over his head. No promises, but will give it my all!!
