Anybody posting from Corpus. I want to take my son on a special trip. Just my Sr boy and me to corpus at Thanksgiving and go fishing. any recommendations for a family on a budget?

I think one of our wyndottes is beginning to lay. They make white eggs right? Anyway, found a perfect medium size white egg in the yard today. They will be 5 months old Monday. Or it could have been Hazel our brown leghorn hen. I read here somewhere that you can check the vent and tell if they are laying. That would be helpful if anyone knows.

I grew up in Corpus, but never went fishing there. I moved away in 2002 and it has changed a lot since I was there last. Wish I could help. I just couldn't not respond to your request, even though I have no recommendations to offer. Sorry.

Update on the new Girls:

Our 9wk old "Olive Eggers", Penny Peeper, Genya Peeper & Frank Peeper are doing well. Despite one of our original 5 hens being boss-lady, no one has gotten hurt. Yay!

Our 4month old Black Marans, Bootsy & Barbarella, are also doing well and have teamed up with the Peepers to form an alliance against The Ladies. Ha-ha!

Still no injuries despite the lack of quarantine...we weren't quite set up to do that when our new birds presented themselves, so we threw caution to the wind and hoped our original hens were laid-back enough to accept their new sisters. So far so good. We've had the Peepers nearly 2wks now, and the Black Marans 3 days, and everyone seems to be doing just fine. Whew!
