Interesting fact I spotted while at the Homestead Fair outside Waco, Tx. When I snapped the pic, my wife said, "Let me guess... you're taking that to share with your chicken group." lol She knows me so well...

Love it!

So....just put my name down on a local group order for 2 Narragansett turkeys in April!
Time to start researching!

Hey Ya'll!! I'm Back!! Have been real busy. Lotta catching up to do. Missed y'all!!

I have a question, does anyone know anything about quail coops?? Have a guy who wants me to build him one, and need to know the specifics, so I can give him a fair price.

All help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome back! Busy here too.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that gets disappointed when you don't get everything you ordered. I get my ducklings tomorrow and I agonized over which ones to get and I got a call yesterday saying they didn't have enough (1 female) to complete my order. So I had to pick a different leftover breed. I went with another runner duck and then after the called ended I was wanting to change it again to a khaki Campbell. I feel silly that I couldn't make up my mind. I know I can always get one later but I don't think there will be enough room to add more and I want 2 chickens. Please someone tell me I'm. Not crazy. My husband thinks I'm nuts because it's just a duck, lol.

Helloooooo Texas!

I was wondering, one chicken person to another, does anyone here have an opinion about the best place to live around Houston?

My ex is moving to Texas shortly and for my daughters sake, I am considering moving there as well.  His destination seems to be the Houston area.

You all seem to be a nice group of people here and maybe you would share your thoughts and opinions on if the heat is too hot for some breeds of chickens in Texas, or if they all seem to do okay?

Also, if you are willing to share, what would be a nice place to move outside of Houston, but still commutable, and away from the Coast not towards it.  I think he is focusing on Katy, Magnolia, and Conroe areas.      Any opinions, or pros and cons?

I won't be bringing the chickens I have right now, but once I get settled I will get some more hatching eggs and start all over.  Hatching can be addictive all on its own.

Anyway, Hello from Northern California.  Sorry to butt in on your group, but I might be joining it soon! :frow
I live out in Cleveland, tx is nice but the school isn't very good all the towns you named would be good ones just know that our real estate market out here is crazy right now..

It's ok, because when the ducks get there, you will be so busy with them that you won't even think about the missing favorite! Plus, the shortage is a really good excuse to pick up a couple of extras in the spring when everyone is hatching!!!

Hey neighbor, I live in New Waverly. Was wondering if you do any breeding?

Thanks Kyle
man I been trying to get into some orpingtons just haven't had the cash to afford them yet...just a small flock now but I need to find some good local breeders just haven't been able to plug in yet..everyone has hatchery birds and I'm trying to find bigger heritage birds...you?
