Texas

I would say the standard 50%. However, the comb is looking a little pink to me. Difficult to tell at this age.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I went and got me 5 RIR"s and thought, no, I was sure, I got 1 roo. But, then "she" went and laid a big, beautiful egg!! Unless I have a "gender confused" bird, she is a hen for sure.LOL

Will do. Hope that he is gone in less than 2 weeks!
I hope to get him, construction permitting. I got an incubator for my birthday. I am wanting to breed some of the hens I have. S, far I have an EE rooster, and he is doing his job. I plan on experimenting on some of those. But, I am getting in a straight run of Americaunas (Not EE'S) and French Copper Marans. There is bound to be a rooster or two in the lot. I plan on breeding those when they are mature. So, I wouldn't mind breeding some Buff Orpingtons too.

Sounds like lucky is settling in well there!

Yes, the stand offish hens are getting used to him. The one's that are used to a rooster being around from another flock, prefer him. Interestingly enough, the Plymouth Bar Rock follows him around everywhere whining at him. We've started to call her whiny bird. She gets jealous if any of the other hens come around.

Anyone here in Texas close to ft worth that is selling our would be willing to sell three to five fertile eggs? I really don't care too much about breeds. I have a diligent broody mom again. Would be awesome if I could add some blue/green/white egg layers to the flock. Or if anyone near there has quail d'anver eggs I will happily buy some eggs from you! That is a breed I have been wanting haha.

Give me enough time and I could oblige!

I have several pullets--CCL, EE, BCM, silkies--and a Polish that just might turn out to be a roo. In which case you would have a choice of brown/cream/green egg layers. I plan on hatching a CCL roo next year so that we can have more blue egg layers plus olive eggers too. I want a rainbow egg basket!

I am in the lake Arlington area of ft worth. We just moved. I was very surprised that I have yet to own a white egg layer. All my girls lay brown, one green, and my Rhode island almost laus chocolate strangely haha. So I have an order of salmon faverolles coming from a hatchery, and a turken, but yet again no white egg layers. So I was testing my luck. I picked up some chicks a month ago from the bantam bin because I wanted Silkies. They of course only had one and I was required to buy six, needless to say I have three old English bntams who will be looking for a home most likely, and I think a white Cochin cockerel.

How long till you think your pullets might start to lay? I have no idea how long my sweet Yumyum will be broody. She hatched me 10 chicks last year And was a good mom.
