Keep getting a glitch when I try to post pics. So I guess I will take pictures with a camera and hope that my dial-up connection can handle posting them.

Good luck with that I had issues on my phone it took time to figure it out and unfortunately I cannot tell you how I did. keep playing with it if your dial up wont do it.

That's one (of several) reasons I hang out here so much, to glean as much info from folks experienced in raising chickens in heat - everything else (online and printed materials) seems completely focused on protecting chickens from cold. Takes a different approach in our climate. It's the same with gardening - the seasons are flipped for me (winter being the best time to grow many things). There's so much info about managing the garden in cold weather, "waiting to plant until the soil is warm". And cold frames? Like I would ever need a cold frame...

It took me forever to realize I could still grow things in the fall and winter here. All the garden resources told me it wouldn't work and then I saw the plants growing just fine in other's gardens. When all the resources say I need to do something a certain way and I'm new at it, I don't think it occurs to me to question it easily.

Would you put any ventilation on the floor of the over night coop? I was thinking 1/2 Rabbit Wire half wood, I really am concerned about air flow, I will have an exhaust fan even if I have to solar panel it--see Tower Blind, I have solar panels

But I hear you loud and clear, I think hurricane, got a million questions. rg's

If you're going to make a completely enclosed coop, floor vents are a great idea. We have 16+ LARGE tractors (sheds on wheels) of varying styles. The ones that have actual encloseable coops all have vents at floor level in addition to windows and openings to allow air flow under the roof. One house that is shorter in height inside, we did put an exhaust fan in the wall that is connected to a solar panel. Our a-frame styled ones are open air so we don't have vents in them except room at the roof peak for hot air to escape.

I ordered an incubator warehouse incuview incubator today. Now I have to start collecting chicken eggs and looking for a guinea nest. We had three nests in the pasture that we had found and all were destroyed by either rain or predators. I know they are laying I just can't find where. Anyway I will keep you informed on the incuview and see how well it works. ET

Let us know what you think about that Incuview. Have been looking at that one. Have a small Brinsea that is great but they are so expensive. Have a Hovabator Genesis that I'm not real fond of.

Just ordered it this morning and already got an email with notice of shipment and a tracking number.

I have been able to upload before, in the What breed or gender is this? Forum. Now it shows the the Embedding Image screen, then flashes back without uploading the pic.
