Oh man, hello .22. We use the metal trash cans. It's the only way to keep the rats out.![]()
I thought I was being so clever!!!! Guess I need something stronger than Rubber Maid!
We use metal trash cans for feed and such. We have now discovered that while it keeps small animals out, it does nothing to deter a donkey that's hellbent on getting to the contents of the cans. Our pia donkeys have managed to get lids off that we had chained onto the cans, and then dragged entire 50lb bags of feed all over the yard. And we thought cat-proofing things for our cats that can open doors and drawers was a chore - we still haven't figured out how to donkey-proof everything yet. Every morning we get up and wonder what new mess we're going to find.Oh man, hello .22. We use the metal trash cans. It's the only way to keep the rats out.

I asked because I have seen a couple of brands of the snake repellent in stores. Have never tried them. I also posted in the emergenciea/diseases/injuries and cures section and someone said DE sprinkled in and around the coop. It got into the workshop with my brooder and got tangled up in the bird net. I failed to notice it until I would have been within striking distance if it had been venomous and not half dead. We spread DE around the brooder and floor so I could see slither marks if another on got in. So hopefully it works as a repellent too.

What we did at DOW in our electric facility stations, like a 6 strand barbed wire fence, 18" from the ground--rattlesnakes love that heat and vibration, I know I should not say this. KINDA LIKE WOMEN. I knew better, couldn't stop myself. rg's
