Texas

Welcome! Your plan sounds amazing!

You must have some land worth a pretty penny! I grew up in west Austin. Austin got way too expensive for us to live there so we are in Spicewood, Tx right now helping take care of a family ranch. I have a husband, 1 kid, 3 dogs and a turtle. We will have 4 mini horses, 2 goats and 14+ chickens in the next year

. Keep us updated on your new arrivals!

Thanks! We are actually located in Dripping Springs. I didn't know what to put on my signature so I put SW Austin.
Well, I seem to have found more chicks I wanted so we currently have 29!
7 Welsummers, one is a too
6 Braburners (4 cream and 2 gold)
3 Easter Eggers
4 Barred Plymouth Rocks
4 Buff Orpingtons
4 Gold Sex Links
1 Surprise, we don't know what it is because it was accidentally shipped to us
They are suppose to be pullets but we will see.
So far all 29 are over 6 days old and thriving. I seem to have instantly become a Crazy Chicken Lady and my husband, unlike some, is an enabler. He just keeps saying we will make another brooder and expand because he wants them all too.
We are excited. Sounds like we are close to each other too. I would love to hear more about you guys. Spicewood is wonderful!

Hello from Gilmer, Texas. We love living in East Texas and just got our 1st 4 Barred Rock chicks last week. I am wanting to get some more already, I hear having chickens are like potato chips, you always want more than just 1, lol! Anyone else on this thread close to us?

Welcome to the crazy word of peeper keepers! I have a mixed flock but originally started with 4 barred rocks. It has slowly worked it's way up to almost 20 chickens over the last few years, so chicken math is a fact! lol I'm in Central Texas myself but there are people in this thread from all over so I'm sure there's someone nearby. This is a great bunch of folks who are well informed and willing to share, so if you have any questions, we're here to help. Enjoy!

Welcome from West Central Texas...about as far from you as we can be and still be in Texas.

Chicken math is an insidious and cunning ailment. There is no known cure. It is like wire hangers. Put two wire hangers in an empty closet. Wait a month and open the closet and it is filled with wire hangers.

We started out with a plan for 5 laying hens so we could have eggs. Check out my signature file at the bottom and see what happened.

Good morning and hello from right outside Tyler. I am very close to you. I started chickening last year and can say I am definitely addicted. Lots of good info and interaction on site.

Welcome back. I'm at newbie and north of north texas up here in the texas panhandle. Lol. I'm only on day 4 of hatching some bielefelders. What have you?

Hi! I'm about 55mins south of Wichita Falls.

I've got an older flock of ten hens (4 black jersey giants, 3 barred rock, 1 copper maran, 1 buff orp, 1 Easter egger and a super friendly barred rock roo.)

I just ordered chicks from Meyer that are set to be delivered the week of March 15th - it's a mix of their "rainbow pullet assortment", some rare breeds (they pick), 4 straight run late bloomers (late hatchers from their incubators) , 2 australorp pullets and a golden laced Wyandotte pullet.
