Texas

Is there anyone in Central Texas (Bastrop, Giddings, Brenham, even Austin area) that would like to rehome any of your ducks? I am looking to purchase 2 or 3 duck hens (hens only). Since it is so close to winter, I do not want ducklings, prefer 4 months or older. I will pick them up, so would like for it to be fairly close to me (I live in Ledbetter, off 290, between Brenham and Giddings).

I can assure you that they will be pets, and treated well. My 2 1 year old pekin hens are spoiled rotten! They just need friends.

Thanks!
Mandy
If you need ducks in the spring, I'll have some incubatable eggs.

No on the first page it says people in Texas. So I posted I'm in Texas.

Thanks! But I don't have an incubator. If I can't find any this fall, I may be calling if you have ducklings!

I have an incubator, I could hatch some ducks for you.

I love putting things in my incubator. I just shouldn't keep everything that goes into my incubator!

I drive up to SA frequently, so i'd be able to bring them half-way to you.

Also - I'll have blue swedish, khaki cambells, 300 layers, and pekins... I may get a pair of welsh harlequins next summer. ;o

You are so sweet! But...my husband refuses to have any drakes! He says he can't handle opening up an egg and finding baby "parts". LOL

Anyway, I am hoping to get young, mostly grown hens this fall, I am afraid that ducklings won't have enough feathers by the time it gets cold. My 2 Pekin girls need friends. I had 7 other ducks (2 Cayuga, 2 Black Swedish and 1 Jumbo Pekin that were 4 months old) that got taken by a bobcat. My girls are still freeked out about it. So....I thought I would try for more ducks! Much to my husband's dismay!

If I don't make it this fall, I may contact you next spring.

Thanks again!

I could probably raise some until gender-aging goes into play to pick out some hens for you. Or, you could order some from metzer farms. They pre-sex them, and as long as you have a brooder light, they'd be okay at night and during the daytime with out a light.

Texas isn't that cold :p 4-6 weeks, and they are pretty feathery. last year, it was 60 around christmas.... so you'd probably be okay for the slightly colder jan/feb, then it starts getting hot again.

Correct about Metzer, but I only want 3 maximum, their minimum is 10 with "warmer roosters". Yikes!!! What would I do with all those roosters!

Thanks so much for the offer, but I would really like to have the birds soon (sometime end of October early November). But again, you are so sweet to offer! If you have any young birds that you would like to get rid of now, we might could work something out.

If you are allergic to chicken eggs, can you eat duck eggs okay?

Again...THANKS!!
Mandy
