and check out this cool loop:

if you watch the East Tx area there are 2 lines that spawn literal walls of storm as they move west and slightly north.... I drew 2 white arrors in pic to look for in the loop when you watch it...

BTW this is also very user friendly to play with....

one of them is currently rolling north thru DFW and we are getting a decent amount of rain already from it... 0.67" so far in less than 30 minutes.

I'm very worried about my chickens. It's not a matter of if we lose our power, it's just when and for how long. We're outside of Nacogdoches and because of the heat in the summer, our run is under a lot of trees. After going through Katrina and Rita I know the devastation of a hurricane in the piney woods. Hurricanes and pine trees do not do well together. 😬

That storm surge alone is going to be heartbreaking enough without even factoring in the waves on top. Southern Louisiana is such a low lying area and full of bayous. Factor in all the petrochemical muck and sewage that is going to be released as well.
too true. And with the rolled back EPA strength as well as other stuff theres gonna be a huge mess that may take a decade or longer to "clean up" or get swept under the rug.....

keep in mind, Cameron Parish is a marsh. Lot's of holding capacity for saltwater. The fishing is usually bad until the water settles down. The fish spread out with all the floating detritus and it takes them a while to get their bearings.

I lost the link to the buoys in the Lake Charles ship channel. What was the highest surge through Lake Charles? Maybe at the salt water barrier?
