This song sums it up for me today! It started raining yesterday at 6:30pm and hasn't stopped except briefly between storms. I have collected 9" in the gauge so far.... I'm on a high hill and my pens have 4" of water standing in them.

We got a total of 5 inches. The storms last nite missed us completely. Watching the skies this morning.
Need to mow-badly.
The big freeze killed some trees. Some we can handle, some-we'll let nature handle.
But 1 HAS to go. It's not completely dead, but on its way.
Called tree removal company, he came out, gave price ($400) and stated it's too wet to get equipment in area (duh we were all standing in over an inch of water).
Week of May 10th maybe.

The freeze killed the Acerola cherry bushes, moringa and the hibiscus. The mulberries are turning out to be the white pakistani variety and the birds are eating them before I can. Not many on the trees and I tried a couple almost ripe ones. Meh.

Glad the birds are enjoying them.

I need to order some replacement fruiting bushes. Goji berries are frost resistant.

I thought my hibiscus were dead, removed a couple,BUT BUT they are NOT dead. They are slowly leafing out. Don't trash too soon. Give em time. I'll get some pics after this thunderstorm.

Hello! I'm from Texas, around Spring. My father unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago and I figure life is too short not to try some projects I've been wanting to do for a while.
I've got a dog, an old-man rat, a few lizards, and little Namentuppen the runt Cochin chicken, who will be going to a friend's farm once she's big enough. Looking into meat rabbits and quail. Meat rabbits first; quail probably next year.
Does anyone know breeders in the area? The only place I know that sells rabbits is a pet store in the mall and knowing them it'll be like $80 for a single lionhead bunny they know nothing about.
Looking mainly into standard rex, chinchillas, or any pretty meat mutts. I'm not picky about pedigree; larger litters would be nice. I like Flemish giants as well but I've heard the meat-to-bone ratio isn't great.
Finally setting up a room for my business too. I need to get out of the closet I've been using for the past few years.

$400 for removal of that tall tree is a “deal” in the DFW. Years ago... I learned from Grampa about tree trimming and care from his 20+ years as head of the cities tree crews & having his weekend stump grinding gig for decades as well....

I know zero about rabbits.
I do have three rabbit cages that I'm using to house quail.
When I'm actually ready to learn about meat rabbits @muddy75 Is going to teach me everything I need to know.
