Well, we got rain.
It started 3 hours ago, just emptied gauge 1 1/2 inches. Maybe we'll float the tractor out.

Topography should be a “refresher course” for “J” while waiting for field to drain.

from just the angle of the pics it looks like they drove right for the lowest section of the field.... effectively the “hidden creek bed.”

figuring out the low spots and the slope of the field are two details that need to be research so you can avoid this from now on.

gawd I hope this make sense... my brain can see pictures and yet, words today are not so forthcoming.... I will expect to need a rewrite ?

No. You said stay out of the low spots. Especially when they are mushy with fresh rain.

Makes sense to me.

Dad and I spent Memorial Day mowing. We got the back 6 acres, both chicken pastures (nearly 2 acres) and 90% of the sides of the driveway done before dark. Then got 3.5 inches in that early morning rain. On the bad side, there is now such a trench between the end of my driveway and the road, that I can't get my little Prius out anymore. SO thankful that I'm still not having to drive in to work every day (75 mile commute to Houston). Having to use the truck would be incredibly expensive in gas.

On the downside. I lost one of my broody turkey hens to a rat snake. The other one, I thought was gone too- she acted like her neck was broken. I was going to give her a day to see what happened before I went ahead and processed her. Glad I did. It looks like she may have twisted her neck under her body/eggs and just nearly broken it, or put a huge kink in it. She was doing better, and over the last two days, she was very wobbly, but improved. Today, she was back in the nest. I'm going to have to give her some new eggs, as I'm sure the ones she had are dead now.
