Day before last, we got 3.5 inches in a quick 1 hour storm. My neighbor's driveway/street connection is now a trench of a over a foot wide and at least a foot deep. They have parked their cars across the street at the chicken barn. It's quite a walk from their house to the street, too. Mine is getting bad, but we can still get out with the truck. Good thing I'm not having to go in to the office every day. My Prius cannot get out of the driveway without damage. Other than that. we're doing pretty good. After living in Cypress for 47 years and dealing with the mud and the floods, it's great to be on a hill. It's wet, but there's no major mud holes where all the animals or the house is, so I'm happy.
Lost one of my broody turkey hens to a rat snake. She had crushed her nest, so was sleeping on the floor, and the damn snake came and decided her head was the right size to eat. By the time it got far enough to realize that she was too big and back off, my hen had suffocated. I got a local snake expert over to go over my nursery/infirmary coop and we've identified some holes and I'm going to get those patched right quick. This is supposed to be the safe coop. The main coop is completely open, but I haven't found a single snake in there yet.
