Had a very pleasant surprise a few moments ago. I saw a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers going from big oak tree to the next big oak tree that are around my pens. Couldn't get any pics of them :( Although they aren't rare or endangered, I have never seen one here in South Texas,...East Texas, yeah but not here. These pics are from the web.

No, the dome of high pressure shifted to the West and to the East of Texas. We were suppose to be 97 to 99°F. Where I'm at it didn't go below 100°F....but that felt cooler than the 105 and 106°F we have been melting under. We have had 46 consecutive days of triple digits here.

Very likely my history chart will show very similar recordings…. Over the last 45+ days when Pete Delkus shows cool charts and graphs and history stuff… the DFW airport may show 96-99* but, our station has ALWAYS been 100+ since early June.
